Guy i know is trying to figure out what this mag is for. He has some goofy ammo with it that has nothing to do with it in the picture, because he is goofy. So disregard ammo pictured. Any ideas?

Looks like one of the 5 round mags you get when you buy a Springfield Armory M1A.
I'm too lazy to get out of this chair and look at my M1A mags though, sorry. |

This one has me stumped, I've looked at all the goofy post war semi auto stuff and a few bolt action mags, and I have considered it is some kind of 5 round after market hunting type magazine for either a semi auto or bolt gun, but, I give up.
 
M1A mag does look similar.... |

MAS 49 or maybe one of those semiauto HK hunting rifles that I can't remember the name of?

At a guess, I would say 5 round CETME magazine. Based upon the stops and mag catch cut. It does not appear to be HK manufacture.
