I am going out tonight with a buddy of mine, his girlfriend and a friend of hers. My buddy's girl is trying to set me up with her friend. My friend's girl did all the setting up, I have never met her friend before.

So, do I offer to pay for her dinner, or should this be dutch?

Geez, I can tell I'm OLD. The gentleman always pays. Period.

It isn't discussed nor debated, and any lady who didn't take that for granted isn't (wouldn't be--I'm married to a perfect lady) for me. <shrug>

-1, and I'm 31. But then again if she's not pulling her own weight now, how is she ever going to support you? For that matter,you should be applying the $40 rule, quite frankly.

Its a date man , pay for the meal. How many times have you pulled out a twenty and gave it
to a bartender when you are out just with the guys having beers. What are you going to ask for separate checks , come on.

Bring the means to pay, but play it by ear.

I have dated women who would be insulted or upset if their date automatically assumed they wanted him to pay.

However, women being from another planet as they are, you can never assume anything, so be ready to spring if that is the obvious expected outcome. You could just ask, but that can make you look cheap. By asking, she may take it as "oh - he expects me to go dutch."

Read her nonverbal cues. The verbal ones are seldom what she really wants.

Be flexible.
