Father/son tactical class would be a great idea. Pistol or carbine 1 from a decent outfit. I learned to hunt from my dad but have struggled to get his mind around tactical training (I'm 40 he's 70).

Sounds like a good hard working son. If he was mine, a Sig P226 in 9mm or if he likes 45 ACP, a Sig P227

When my son was about that age I gave him enough for a down payment on a house. Now three years later said house is worth 30K more.
