single malt or blended, east coast or west?  you might want to try a single malt as old as you can get that starts with the word Glen

I didn't know there was such a thing as "good scotch".

I've tried it a couple o' times and didn't much like it.

Never met a scotch I didn't like [:D][:D]

Having said that - pretty much any single malt is better.  The longer aged the better.

Anything with Glen in the name helps.

Glenfidditch

Believe it or not...Famous Grouse is pretty darn good, and quite cheap for the taste (about $30).

For REALLY CHEAP scotch for the taste, William Grants is great.  I'll take it over most scotches up to $30, yet it only costs about $15.

If "pops" has any taste in single malt scotch, The Macallan is ALWAYS an excellent choice! You can NEVER go wrong with it - it's universally known as the premier single malt scotch - in fact it's widely regarded as the "Rolls Royce of Single Malt Scotches".

Glenmorainge or Laphroag for singles, or an older Glenlivet or Uesquebach Reserve for blends.

What's widely sold as "The Glenlivet" is not a blend, it's a single malt scotch.

BTW, There are many "Glen" scotches, not all are good, some are rather mediocre (e.g. Glen Mhor, Glenesk, Glen Keith).

A few other names if you don't choose The Macallan - Auchentoshan, Laphroig,  Balvenie, Lagavulin, Dalmore, Cragganmore, Talisker, oh just forget it there's too many good ones - buy The Macallan [:D]

I'd rather have a nice bourbon myself, but maybe I am a bit biased, heheheh..

Glenlivet is good though..

How about a nice Cognac. Hennesy is my favorite.

The single malts are definetly the better Whisky.

Try this out.
