Looking for something nice, but casual in the $200-$400 range.  Leather band, darker face.  I'm not familiar with nice watches, I've worn G-shocks for the last 10 years and they just aren't dressy enough for what I'm doing now.  I'd like it to look ok with a suit and tie, but I'll buy another watch in the future for that.  

I'll be wearing jeans and a nice shirt most of the time with this.  Other times it'll be khakis and a button up shirt.

If you want an automatic, check out Hamilton. They make nice watches in that price range.

Do you have a preference for dive watches, dress watches, pilots, etc.?

No real preferences.  I just can't be without a watch and the G-Shocks don't look dressy enough.

I'd probably lean away from the dress watches.

Seiko SKX007 and buy a leather Zulu for it from NATO Strap Company.

A Citizen Ecodrive perpetual calendar model won't care if you don't wear it for a few days and will only ever need to be reset for daylight savings.

Automatics are cool, I prefer them myself, but they require more fiddling and they run down in under two days if not futzed with.
