Used to use Firefox for a long time and it was great, but lately a lot of pages don't work or are incredibly slow to navigate. I've tried resetting it and it hasn't worked

What's the next great browser?

It doesn't matter, honestly.

Seems like they are all shit in one way or another. I still use Firefox though.
Link Posted: 10/2/2014 2:18:24 PM EST
I think it's come down to really what features you want. Very few browsers do anything new.

Most are now an offshoot of Chrome, Mozilla, or IE (with Opera being an IE offshoot)

Marathon is very popular. Epic Browser is another fast browser. I personally have been using Spark browser. It has nice tools built in, torrent, youtube downloader and converter, as well as some others. You can find it here... http://en.browser.baidu.com/

I liked Chrome but after loading in any amount of extensions, it makes the browser screech to a halt. One extension that attempts to deal with low resource problem is "The Great Suspender". It will put pages\tabs into a low memory usage mode when not accessed for a period of time.

Best of luck on your choice!

Switched to chrome a year ago and haven't looked back.

Uninstall it and reinstall it. Version 32 is the best ever.

Chrome. I was diehard Opera for years. Switched to Chrome and never looked back.

Shockwave crashes in my Firefox about 10-12 times a day.

But what do you do? Go with Internet Explorer? Bullshit on that!

Used to be a Firefox fan.

Gone all to Chrome now. Seems to work best with most pages.

What OS? What extensions? What A/V are you running? I haven't used another browser other than mozilla/FF in 15 years.

I am having no problems.

If you're running a 64 bit OS, try Waterfox instead.

I'm using Opera and Pale Moon for when Opera won't work.

Chrome was terrible on my computer. It would instantly pop up with Web site not found on many pages, including gmail. Uninstalled and installed it a few times and same issue. Firefox works much better on mine. Even ie 11 was fucked from the get go with Web pages not found. Google refused to Google anything unless you knew the Web page address and typed it in. Bing works.

Not sure of the issues but Firefox and Bing work.

Some of the reviews sound bad. I am intrigued though.

You got a smartphone? How much more could they possibly find out that they don't already know? It's fast, uncluttered, and my mobile browser history/bookmarks sync with my PC automatically.

I sure as hell dont own an android phone.

I don't use google search, and I'm transitioning from gmail.

Make no mistake about it. Google is the kingpin of evil.

IE got such a bad rap 5-6 years ago I think a lot of users switched and never looked back. Personally, I think IE10 and IE11 are great browsers. Use and administrate IE10 at work with very very few issues.

Apple makes money on their hardware and software. They don't make money off your information.

Huge difference. Night and day.

Google wants to know everything about you to sell you out. That's what they do. That's how they make money. They sell advertising.

Firefox isn't bad if you use No Script and Ad Block.

I've found that most of the problems with browsers is the shitload of javascript that websites run nowadays.

Firefox has known memory issues. It sucks a lot.

IE is currently having certain website compatibility issues as well.

Chorme is okay, but nosey.

I'll stick with Telnet.

I do a search for tonneau covers for my truck and then I start seeing ads for tonneau covers. I think it's neat way to advertise. Don't get me wrong, I hate ads but if I'm going to see ads anyway why not make them relevant to my interests? I'm feeding it the information willingly by entering a search query so I don't see an issue. You get what you pay for.

That's not entirely true.

Every company worth a damn keeps track of their customers and what they buy. Basic internal marketing.

Google takes it to a whole different level.

Google scans your documents, your email, your IM's, your browsing habits. Your location. Your purchases. They own you. They own your information. Google makes money by knowing as much about you as they can so that they can sell advertising.

Chrome was crap for me so I took it off. My issue with it was the enormous memory usage.

My firefox is very fast, even with a lot of tabs open. It only grabs the pages that it needs to. I don't believe I configured that, just came that way, for me.

I do suggest you do a couple of things:

* use ccleaner and uninstall some old Java versions if you have them. Also clean up your cache data and cookies.

* figure out if you have any bogus toolbars or other malware and get it removed.

* add Adblock Plus, DoNotTrackMe, Ghostery, NoScript and Session Manager. Make sure they're updated and blocking EVERYTHING you don't want.

* Remove or disable all the other add ons. If this step helps, then re-enable them one by one to figure out which is/are the ones interfering.

Chrome is 100% spyware, but you could go the Chromium route if you prefer the features and security of that browser.

Firefox is the better choice when it comes to end user privacy.

Chromium/Chrome is the better choice when it comes to application security.

IE is used when websites do not work in either of the above, or for testing compatibility during development.

I use Firefox, along with Adblock, Disconnect, and NoScript. I also avoid opening questionable content unless I'm utilizing a virtual machine designed for such use.

YMMV.
