I ordered a 1911 to be custom built for me by someone I have done business with before. I love the work he does and I have nothing bad to say about his services. However, there was a bit of a mixup when building my latest 1911. Everything was spot on except one detail. There were serrations on the top side of the slide, the lines that go length-wise between the sites. I hadn't asked for these, and I'm also a bit impartial with them. I'm not sure I like them or hate them. I know they'd help for reducing glare, but I dont know if its that important to me. This is an all black CCO style 1911 and will be my carry piece. What is your opinion?

I just ordered a Brown executive carry, with a serrated top, recessed slide stop, and some other stuff.I think the top serrations are cool as hell,in daylight they help pick up the front sight faster when the gun is in recoil, and they look cool as hell.

I'd post pictures but Tue only ones I have available would expose the manufacturer and I don't want to so that.

|
I don't like them, but I probably wouldn't reject a custom gun because of it.

Just a fancy way to add bead blast.
ETA how is less glare not important to you? Is this going to be a nighttime only gun shot in 100% darkness? |

I personally like top serrations but only if its flattened too. None of my guns have this though.

Well, I suppose there is no wrong doings by posting the pictures. After all, I'm sure if I wanted to, I could get a new slide. I haven't picked it up yet. I'm in Italy. But here's the pictures of the old and new. http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt220/Torque556/JustinJCCO-3.jpg http://i613.photobucket.com/albums/tt220/Torque556/-10.jpg I like the serrations, makes it different from most other 1911's. |

Yeah, I am not so sure that would be my first choice. Seems a little busy to me. But I don't know shit, if you like it then I say rock on.

Looks awesome, I wouldn't change a thing. This. I love the look. |

I wouldn't have ordered serrations like that, but if I were you, I'd be OK with them.
What *would* bother me was all that custom work on something with Front Holster Scratchers on the slide. (Nice looking work in the pictures otherwise, though) |

I don't like but then I'm old so what do I know. This except I'm not that old. Do not like. |

Overall....a very nice looking piece.
I do find the top serrations...aesthetically.....disturbing. |
|
I have them on my Liebenberg custom, I like although I don't think they are necessary.

I prefer a flat-top cut and finer serrations (30 or 40 lpi) but I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
|
|
if the top serrations were flat I would like better. Not a fan of front serations either.

Looks fine to me and I'm not a 1911 guy. The serrations are a bit much but then again it separates it from all the other clones out there. I say it's a nice looking gun but that doesnt mean it functions well. My last girlfriend was a real looker but functioned like a VW on three wheels. |

Quoted: Don't like the front serrations, like the top serrations. This. Nice grips too. I'd prefer something textured for a carry piece, but those certainly look nice. |

CCO = best carry 1911 you can get
I prefer flattop serrations. If you have serrations and didn't want them consider it a free gift! |

Tell me this isn't Fusion Firearms. Please. Fusion was my guess |

Tell me this isn't Fusion Firearms. Please. No likey Fusion? Would like to hear why. The slide looks Caspian, at least from the front rear serrations. |

Get it back. Carry it for a while. If you still don't like it get out the dremel and have at it.
|

Double tap. To add though, I still can't decide to tell him to keep it or not

Both pistols pictured are mine. The smooth slide was my first, but then was stolen from me. I ordered another, and is pictured second. I haven't received the new one yet. It is Fusion Firearms. and the man does amazing work. There must have just been a mix up. I like the front serrations and find they balance the look of the slide. My carry holster is a M-tac and never did leace marks on the old pistol that wouldn't just wipe off.

I happen to really like that feature on a 1911....but I only own one of them, and it has that feature.
I think it's more cosmetic than anything....unless you are shooting a match in hot weather. Then, it might be a VERY desirable feature to have. But, for most people, it's a purely cosmetic feature. |
