Whenever I'm make a copy of a document by feeding it through, the output copy will have a vertical line coming down the page.  This appears to be the same problem for basically any document coming in or going out using this device.  Is there any way I can clean the rollers or something liek that?  How do I do this?

Clean the small glass scanner window. You probably got some whiteout or some such on it.

There is no scanner window.  Just some roller mechanisms.  It's kinda old school.

so it doesn't do this on a regular print?

No, only on documents that are read through the scanning mechanism.

In other words...

Documents I print from my computer are fine.

If I take a document and feed it in to copy it, it will come out with a line going down the page.

If I fax a document, the recipient will also have a line going down their page.

Like someone said, there is something on the scanning element window.

It has given me years of great service and I'm not ready to ditch it yet, even with the 'line' issue.  I would just like to fix it if I can on the cheap.

ETA:  I just took some compressed air to the area that seems to be closest to causing the streak.  Didn't do anything.  Perhaps is more stuck than compressed air can help.

If it only happens when faxing or scanning it would be prudent to assume, somehow there is something interfering with the optical scanner. There must be a part of the machine that flips up to expose a thin glass window under which the actual element runs back and forth. There is probably a substance on there. Check the owners manual or online for how to clean the window.

That was exactly what I needed.  Cleaned as instructed and problem fixed.  It even feeds better now too.

Thanks a million!!!
