If I take a document and feed it in to copy it, it will come out with a line going down the page. If I fax a document, the recipient will also have a line going down their page. |

I would just like to fix it if I can on the cheap. ETA: I just took some compressed air to the area that seems to be closest to causing the streak. Didn't do anything. Perhaps is more stuck than compressed air can help. |

If it only happens when faxing or scanning it would be prudent to assume, somehow there is something interfering with the optical scanner. There must be a part of the machine that flips up to expose a thin glass window under which the actual element runs back and forth. There is probably a substance on there. Check the owners manual or online for how to clean the window.
