Those are my two favorite sites for reviews.
I use DVDtracker to keep track of my dvds.
You don't need "enhanced for 16:9" or anamorphic dvds unless you have a 16:9 set. But if you do it makes a huge difference. Most current DVDs are anamorphic anyhow.
As for buying dvds, I bought my dvd player last year and everyone told me I would be buying a bunch of movies. I said that was a load of crap as I bought about 1 VHS movie a year if that. Well, I already have 80 some odd movies, damn you guys. [;)]
After I bought the dvd player I realized that my old stereo didn't have enough inputs, so I bought a new receiver, which necessitated new speakers, then with awesome sound I "needed" a new tv so I got an HDTV widescreen. Now movies look and sound awesome so I end up buying a bunch. Can be somewhat of an addictive habit as well.
