If you mean names "of" famous weapons, there's the famous German long range Krupp gun called "Big Bertha"!
I'm fix'in to drop off tag for engraving and thought I would make some cool serial numbers... You know like names of swords and other weapons from history and literature...
I'm not trying to be an ass, but I still am not sure I understand the question.

Ok, let me spell it out....I make guns....Guns have serial numbers.....I can put anything I want on a gun for a serial number.....

Sting and Ankle-Biter.
Tolkien used Norse literature for the Dwarves details. Vikings loved to name their weapons. Battle-Troll Leg-Biter Life-Taker Some that come to mind. |
M4...what’s wrong with you? Didn't you know your supposed to know the answers to all my questions and anticipate my wants and needs? Just screwing with you…It’s hard to get me witty replies to come across in text sometimes and I just sound like an asshole….so if you could have the S/N on your AR be anything in the world, what would it be?
Ummm....well....I like the sound of Valhalla.
For those of you who don't know, this is where Viking warriors would go after they were killed in battle. A sacred place reserved only for true warriors. I'm not sure if it's spelled like that or not. |

ConnYankee that would be The Executioner series. That's where I got my "nicname" from.
Big Thunder was a .44 mag AutoMag. In the later series it was replaced by a Desert Eagle in .44 mag. |

How about prefixing the serial number with SUR!
Or have a run of receivers with famous military units as the start of the serial #. Ex:101stxxx,82ndxxx, 1NSH[;)] |

Just stick with an Alpha Numeric SN. Skip junking up a gun with crap.

Personally, I think that John Deere 9600 would be cool.
How about WHOOPA$$-01 for a serial number? |
Anzio Annie is a famous gun name.
My favorite gun names however are those the Germans gave to their Karlgerat siege mortars: Adam,Eve,Thor,Odin,Loki and Ziu. [}:)] |

My AR10's name is "Reason". You should always listen to Reason...
-Troy |
It's been too long since I read the series, but there was a Fantasy series about some swords--
I believe the a few of the names were: Stone Cutter Farseeker, etc. Can't remember the author's name right now. Another one was the "Blacksword" book(s)--seems like an apropriate name for a black rifle. AFARR |

reply: chaut chaut is the worst gun ever made!
I have to place my 02 cents in here, i seen like tales of the gun, and military blunder's displayed about that gun! yes it was a disaster. they have to remember about that time france was in war with germany YES! the Tank was new; had to deal with it, but how? same with the trench warfare with the german maxums! how are we going to deal with this? they had to quickly come up with something and fast! i mean at that time under pressure and all this new type of warfare evoled with plane's, tanks, and machineguns they had to evoled under extreme difficulties did not have the resourses to and time to develop "WALKING FIRE". |

BRINGER sounds fitting for a rifle

Quoted: Quoted: Life-Taker View Quote Ahhh....To shoot a perp with gun named "Life-Taker." No matter how right you are...the lawyers would still eat you for lunch. View Quote True enough. It is interesting, however, that that name of a sword comes from a book written over 1000 years ago in one of the most litiginous societies ever. It's not that different, since the lawyers were hated and feared but tolerated then, as today. They just had different rules. |
P.S.: Name one Scythe. That's what the grim reaper carries.
Or Spitfire. Or va-VOOM! (from Felix the Cat). |
'Mjölner' was the name of Thor's hammer, which, when thrown, always came back to his hand.
What was the name of Natty Bumpo's rifle from 'The Leatherstocking Tales' by James Fenimore Cooper? C'mon now, don't tell me you didn't go back and reread all of the Leatherstocking Tales after you saw 'Last of The Mohicans' with Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role? What kinda 'mericans are you? Anyway? Eric The('Killdeer')Hun |
