NY is running a close second behind Kaliforniastan in things to ban.

Enough is enough. When are people going to stand up?

F 'em.

What are they going to do to stop mail order sales? Put tobacco sniffing dogs on the conveyor at the post office?

Give me a break. I was just in lower Manhattan last week. Cig prices there are outrageous. Were talkin $8-$9 a pack. We ought to start an online exchange where residents of KY and NC and states where smokes are dirt cheap can help out the poor clowns in places who are forced to pay $6-$7-$8-$9 a pack.

Careful about advocating "standing up!" Some folks on the board will think you are hoping for the collapse of society, the death of the Constitution, invasion by the UN, and hoping to shoot looters/blue helmets.

Wait, it's for the $400 million in taxes the state loses to the indians.

I think this is right on the money, no pun intended.

ALBANY - Three years after being passed into law, a state ban on Internet and mail-order sales of cigarettes will be enforced beginning next week, over the objections of online retailers, including Seneca Nation of Indians businesses that have been flourishing on the Web.

I'm curious as to how they are going to enforce this?  Many of the Native American's live in Canada and I bet online retailers will either move to Canada or offshore out of the reach of NY officials.

Is the state police of NY going to invade Canada?

The Indian nations who are "gaming" are doing very well indeed. I predict they will buy back most of NY within a century. The Oneidas (Turningstone Casino) already have several thousand acres of "sovereign  nation" territories they have bought in central NY and effectively taken off the tax rolls. And they are doing this with NY's blessing.

Never. The hammock the government has made for them is too comfortable...

Why bother bringing a "living and breathing" document into the mix? It isn't like most state or federal politicians have any regard for it anyway.

Yup, this is a law Elmer Pataki signed. Chalk up another victory for moderate Republicans...

Enforcement will likely be by credit/debit card companies and ISPs seeking to avoid huge fines and jail time.
