All day I watched the NY Fire Dept in their BLACK with Yellow reflective fringe and Kevlar(?) helmet (which is fucked up to begin with)
NOW I see a trailer with one guy loading a MP5K before going into the collapsed WTC Building...

Since when does the Fire Dept carry those???

If i could legally do that in their situation i would too.During the 92 riots in la firemen had to be escorted by police as they were targets of angry rioters.

It's possible that it could have been a NYPD officer using NYFD gear to enter the premises.  I saw many NYPD officers with MP5's during the various pieces of video coverage I saw.

My god! You guys dont know about the NYPD Emergency Services Unit? They are cross trained as Firemen/Paramedics/SWAT.  Their trucks look like the FD's only painted blue, although quite a few of them ride around in unmarked cars like LAPD SWAT.  They are designed to avoid the problems we saw in LA County. Unlike the FD the private corporate EMT's ESU will go in under fire to put out fire and recover wounded.

It is a unique creation. It was a child of necessity, the NYPD wanted a SWAT team in the early 70's. Far left elements in the city government and the black community were violently opposed to this after seeing what the LAPD SWAT did the the Panthers and SLA.  The compromise was to give the same guys that would do the shooting the job of cleaning up the aftermath.  That sealed the deal.
