Anyone have the scoop on what happened, what happened to the perps and how the officer is doing?

The Detective is fine.  The perp was caught the next day wearing the same clothes he was wearing when he assaulted the Detective.  Darwinism at it's best.  

I still have no idea why a plain clothes detective was riding a marked scooter, but basically the perp knocked him off and kicked him while he was down.

That's not the whole story.  The detective ran the scooter into a woman's back.  There was no way to tell he was a cop, he was wearing a yankees jersey and german helmet.  The crowd, including the perp, pummeled him in response.
