You could say that it is misleading.

Thought he did it out in the open and no one else was around blocking traffic or something.

He is in a group.

I wonder how many officers pray while on duty?
Link Posted: 10/16/2008 7:55:17 AM EST
The younger guy, with the "Inspector" rank could be a fake? Don't you need to be clean shaven?

Doesn't look old enough to be an Inspector.

A shit ton of them.

"In uniform" doesn't always mean "on duty".

I am not saying I endorse the Muslims, but the United States of America was founded on religious freedom. I cannot believe all the people who are claiming "Molon Labe" in reference to the 2cnd, and then bashing other freedoms.

I would guess 99%, especially responding to domestic calls.

I wasn't a big fan of the American Flag with the muslim Crescent in it instead of the stars.

OMG!

They let Muslims join the PD!!

The end is near!!!

Yup!

A couple of years ago I was assigned to a protection detail for some Malaysians visiting the United States.

When they weren't working all they wanted to do was hang out at dance clubs, strip clubs and porno shops.

They were all Muslim.

Kneel and pray in public then get your FAP on after hours in the porn shop.

He's one of them good muslims.
Link Posted: 10/16/2008 8:08:54 AM EST
Oh no! Someone in America exercising religious freedom!
Link Posted: 10/16/2008 8:09:24 AM EST
To think that 7 years later Muslims are marching through NYC, praying Mecca in the streets of NYC and demanding that we recognize Islamic holidays in American schools...it just breaks my heart.

I'm all for exercising religous freedom, but doing it in the middle of the street blocking traffic is bullshit.

I like the lady with the sign pointing out how the economic mess is all the Dem leaders fault and she's in New York!!

There may be a holy war here when they bring it

I piss on CAIR !!!
Link Posted: 10/16/2008 8:30:17 AM EST
Since when is Muslimism considered a race? After going after the lady in the cofee shop, the guy says to the cop "Just because she's white and I'm Muslim?"

It depends on whether lives are at stake. If there are you better believe policemen will be praying.

Muslims are supposed to pray five times a day; it’s part of their faith to submit to God in that way. And in the context of the pictures that Inspector is doing not anything wrong.

As a former resident of NYC, I can say that traffic is fucked up no matter what, prayer or not.

I'd rather have the cop praying than to have Revered Al spout more bullshit.

so because he is muslim he should not be allowed to be in new york?
so because he is muslim we should time his actions with the start date of 9/11?

Fuck it, if you are not a protestant, white person you should go to a camp.

fucking absurd.

Uhhhh. I'll take a guess. We are living the values by which this country was founded?

I have no problem with them praying to whatever God they choose. As long as it is within the regulations of the job they have taken, doesn't hinder their performance of their job, and the rules are enforced fairly and justly to all in uniform, then what is the problem?

He may be a great cop. What difference does it make if he is muslim?
Link Posted: 10/16/2008 9:16:35 AM EST
Hes in his dress uniform, which means he probably marched in their parade. I wore the same outfit in the St Pats Parade for many years and prayed outside of ST Pats. Not a big fan of Muslim extremists but I think the whole NYPD thing i being overblown...

should officers be allowed to get married in a church/synagogue/ temple in uniform?
how about attending religious funerals for slain officers in uniform?

Ticket them all. Send them on their way.

Under those circumstances, it's certainly not unreasonable. I'm one. I could care less if these guys went to a mosque in their uniform, but I have trouble believing that they got approval from their supervisors to wear their class A's to the Islamist's Day Festival.

It's not the praying. It's the poor judgment.

I find it difficult to say wearing it indoors and praying or while in a procession for a dead officer is ok, but simply praying is not. Either religious function in dress is ok, or it is not.
Link Posted: 10/16/2008 9:25:22 AM EST
Big deal ... we have uniformed officers that show up at Mass at my church on a weekly basis.

I'm far from an expert on comparative religion, but it's my understanding that, unlike the "render unto Ceasar" concept in Christianity, it is an article of faith in Islam that sharia takes precedence over secular law, indeed that the concept of secular law is blasphemous . Does anyone see how that could present a problem for a law enforcement officer? Or an American citizen for that matter.

So you have a problem with freedom of assembly? If they had the permits or whatever to have their demonstration/street fair or whatever it is, that's their right as Americans.
