"The
National Shooting Sports Foundation has created an online survey to learn more about consumer usage of AR platform Modern Sporting Rifles." Take this survey, help shape the future of the tactical market and enter to win one of three $500 GIFT CARDS to Cabela's. ________________ 9/15/10: Link removed- NSSF is wrapping up the survey. Thanks to all who helped out with this! |

I did it, thanks for the link.
FWIW, their poll options for "What caliber is your latest MSR purchased?" (not verbatim, but something like that) had a typo in it. It listed "5.54x39mm" instead of 5.45x39mm –– which I probably wouldn't have ever noticed, but my last AR bought happened to be a 5.45. |

I must have missed that question, I just did the survey and don't remember seeing anything in regards to caliber. |

Mine was difficult since my last "MSR" was a purchase of 3 stripped lowers.
|
|
Hit
My last 5 "MSRs" were all built from stripped lowers. It didn't mention anything about whether or not I bought it complete or rolled my own. Oh well |
|
Survey taken.
I built my lower from a Stag stripped, and slapped an AR15 Performance upper on it so I listed the gun as being ARP. OP, thanks for the link. |
|
Holy long-ass surveys, Batman.
NSSF: just tell manufacturers to ditch 1/9 twist barrels and we'll be good. Oh, and make them hammer forged. |
|
I did the survey but opted out of the "contest" to trade my personel information and subject myself to a shitload of junk mail for a chance at the gift card.
How 'bout you notify me if I win by email, and THEN I'll identify myself........ Fat chance I bet that mailing list sells for way more than setting up the survey and $1500 @ Cabelas, ha I bet Cabelas gave 'em the cards for a copy of the list..... |
|
Done.
I wonder which MODERN SPORTING RIFLE website is everyone's favorite. |
|
Hit it.
When asked name of manufacture of last rifle, I noted the name of the manufacture of the stripped lower and indicated all other parts were bought from various manufactures via the internet.... |
|
I built my last AR, so the whole series of questions about the last one purchased is kind of screwy.
Also, there was no multiple choice available for where have you shot in the last year. |
|
Done.
Yeah, for those of us who built our last AR that took a bit of typing |

Age range of children?
It would only let me check one box, and I needed to check 4 of them. |

Age range of children? It would only let me check one box, and I needed to check 4 of them. That's funny. There were several times in the survey when the selection needed to be multiple, but the survey didn't allow it. |
|
Quoted: done what no option for 6.5 grendel I know. I wrote it in. Let's see. I own 'black rifles.' (Yes, they called them 'Black'.) I live alone, and go to the range alone. I buy 500 rounds of ammo a month. Man, if that survey was a front for the evil gummint, I'm screwed. If you guys don't see me here from now on, it's because I filled out the survey and gave them my address.... |
|
Just did it!
That had to be the worst written survey I've ever taken. Did they bother to have a few people check that to make sure it made sense? Ex. What sports have you used you MSR for (or another gun)? Skeet, Sporting Clays, Handgun target shooting... |
|
Just hit it.
At first I wasn't sure if Modern Sporting Rifle only meant AR platforms or every scary looking semi-auto gun. I went with just AR platform and didn't count my Sig/FNs etc... I counted the M16 as a MSR though |
