Face facts. The NRA is a special interest group. The BIGGEST single organized special interest group, as it turns out.
This special interest, which many of us share in, might want a little more than you can really read out of the Constitution and BOR, that is, if you're a truly honest and dispassionate reader.
Ron Paul is THE most dedicated and strictest Constitutionalist in Congress. If I were to be elected to either house of Congress, I would follow his lead very closely and seek to establish ties with him and his office before ANY other member of Congress.
He believes as I do, that after well over 200 years of laws passed by Congress, there's very little VALID reason to enact MORE laws except for the ones that involve the routine business of the government.
By now, every law that SHOULD exist probably does. From that point on, it's just incrementalism and the destruction of our freedoms, one law at a time.
The NRA deserves a D MINUS for giving Ron Paul anything other than an A PLUS. We have no stronger friend of CONSTITUTIONALLY GUARANTEED FREEDOMS than Ron Paul.
If Ron Paul thought that the bill to restrict lawsuits against the gun industry would have been an unConstitutional law, well, it probably IS, even though I would like to see an end to any lawsuits filed against any company over a non-defective product or one that was used by a criminal.
I value the entire Constitution and BOR as a whole more than I value any single amendment by itself.
