We used to take empty CO2 cartridges and stuff them full of match heads.  Light it off and try not to get hit by the uncontrolled path as it skidded around like a bezerk mini-flamethrower.  Good times...

You got lucky.  There was a kid at my Military Academy/ROTC scholarship candidate physicals group at the big old AFEES on Wilshire in Los Angeles that tried that.  He had a little over half a right hand.  We did the hold your hands out and wiggle them at me test.  The Doc came back and asked him to do it again.  Asked him what happened.  The kid said, "Match heads in a CO2 bottle.  My Dad said the Congressman's office said it could be waived."  "Waved? Yes, waived? NO.  Go get dressed."

Used to make match head rockets with foil that worked pretty well.
