Interesting. The Atkins diet works great for those who have become Carb/insulin sensitive.  It mimics the diet that Hunter/gatherers ate.
Maybe your Asian DNA needs a historically Asian diet.  Glad you seem to have successfully modified it.  Keep eating tons of veggies and Complex carbs like wild rice. You can't go wrong there.

Have you gotten bloodwork done to be sure you don't have a serious tyroid, insulin or hormone disorder?

This time last year I weighed 196 at 5'7". (Flightschool has a tendency to make you put on weight.)

After SERE School screwed up my metabolism I did the Body for Life challenge and lost 10lbs in 3 months which I put right back on in the course of 30 days.  

I started Atkins induction 1 week after my wife started...it was too much torture for her to be doing the diet and watch me eat Ice Cream.

Anyway...I've been in induction for 1 week and have lost about 10lbs.  Presently 175 and looking to get down to 165...

Presently eating about 20 grams of carbs from dietary fiber.  I plan to start eating rice again after induction...(I'm Asian as well...at least half of me is.)  I'm gonna try brown rice though...

I miss beer...
