I paid $450 for it three years ago.  Seems done for, sounds like chunks of metal in the engine.  It sounds exactly like the mower in the video except it will not start.  It clearly has chunks of metal rattling around in there.

It's just using an old biplane rotary engine, it'll run for years and years.

That's what I thought, it went while mowing.  Died and won't start, while it attempts to start you can hear chunks of metal moving around in the engine.

I guess now the question is if I want a small zero turn to replace it now.  I've got about two acres of lawn.  Some of it is on a hill and rough.

So if it sounds like that video and won't start, definitely dead?

Won't run at all with the filter on it?

Runs without it but very rich.

Spits fuel out like crazy.

I'd see what a new carb costs or a rebuild kit.

Sounds like a diesel... ARF says diesels will run forever.

Take the engine apart and see what's up. Can't hurt. They're easy to rebuild.

I think you're responding to the video; the video is not mine, I posted it to let folks know what I'm hearing.  The mower won't start and sounds like there's metal parts rattling around in there.

Valve adjustment?

I had to adjust the valves on my Craftsman 18hp Briggs and Stratton. Ran like shit, smelled like gas and sometime has an issue with starting. Seemed liked the engine was seized.

Are you saying that would fix it?

i would check the gaps. That could be your problem

Maybe take it apart and see what it looks like on the inside?

If it's dead, that will tell you and you've lost nothing but time.  If it's not as bad as you thought, maybe it can be fixed.

Or you can do what i did.... and just buy a new one because fuck wasting all that time.

That, as a dad and a new homeowner, I don't have a lot of free time.  I'll buy used again, save my money for a zero turn in a few years.

It runs.  You have spark, compression and air.  So the piston is still together. So are the Connecting Rods and camshaft.

I bet a carb rebuild or a new carburetor will make it run like new

I need to edit the OP; that is not my mower.  Mine does not run.  It clearly has something rattling around inside the engine itself.  Editing the OP now.
