For those that don't know, I am LDS. I am sure you know about "Mormon Missionaries".

She has submitted her papers, which means that she is all set to go, just waiting on word from the LDS church Missionary department on where she is going. I will update this thread when I know where she is going.

I am very proud of her, she came to this decision on her own.

Some of the boys my youngest son ran around with in High School are LDS.A couple of the brothers did the 'mission' but the 3 rd brother stayed at home and farmed/drove the family semi..I became quite good friends with them .....good kids (mid 30's now)

By the way, your daughter is a beautiful young lady. !!

I hope she doesnt have to do her time in Africa. I had a son who did two years in South Africa and it changed his life forever. 18 years full time army/national guard since , of which he was a member before he left for S.A..
Congratulations to you and your daughter and may God go with her. Btw, she is beautiful.

Congrats to all of you for your daughter's choice to serve a mission!

Congratulations... Best two years of my life up till then... Not a day goes by where I don't apply something I learned on my mission...

From problem solving to budgeting to getting along well with a difficult personality...

You did well... Be proud of yourself. I am sure she will do great.

Had a meeting with a member of the area presidency Sunday last week. He said on a typical Thursday, 600-700 calls will be issued. The week prior to our meeting, 6900 went out. This week they expect 3000 more women than men to be issued calls.

I have met you... There is no way that is your daughter....

I love my mission and the people there, I will always have a connection to the people of Southern Africa. She is so lucky that she can go on a mission.

I hope she goes to Botswana.

Why, because he looks so young, or because his daughter is so good looking compared to him?

I have it on good authority (I work with his neighbor) that he has very pretty daughters, and that this is indeed his girl.

This one. I thought he would have kids that are about 10 or 12, not 19 or 20.

When I put in my papers (20 years ago) I was asked were I wanted to go. My answer was an English speaking foreign mission that used modern toilet paper.

I got my call to the Mississippi Jackson Mission. Well 2 out of three aint bad, but I picked up on the language soon enough.

When I sent in my papers I requested, "anywhere but South America." I was sent to Venezuela.

I think The Lord wanted me to learn a lesson in humility.

Yeah. I just wanted to go somewhere that wasn't too rainy.

I went to Tacoma, WA. I was on a bike for 22 of 24 months. I had a car my first two months.

Such is life.

My InLaws will love that. Two of them served missions in Argentina.

Thanks guys.

And Shane we still need to hit lunch...

Congrats!

I served in Argentina, before that mission existed. My first area, Merlo, is now part of that mission. When she can, she has to visit the Basilica de Lujan. It's a beatiful structure.

She will LOVE it!

I've got some errands to run today, but we could go to Captain Len's BBQ tomorrow if that works for you.
