I picked this sks up today
$200 OTD with the 4 boxes of ammo

I will be going to the range tomorrow to shoot my new baby

I found this ammo for 4.99 a box.  These 4 were thrown with the deal, but I am tempted to return and grab the rest.

Cool! SKS goodness.

Resist the urge to put the "banana clip" on it. They suck.

Edited to add: Where was it made?

Malfunctions, difficulty in changing mags, etc.

The SKS is a fun shooting rifle with some historical significance when left in its original form, IMHO.

I like the SKS but for a Yugo I would not have spent more then about 100-125U$

I have wanted one for a long time.

Is 4.99 a box for the silver bear a good price?

They are excellent rifles, until you start adding aftermarket crap to them.

The M59/66 was a Christmas gift from my FIL a few years ago.  I think he paid $150 for it.

I paid $160 for the M59 two years ago.

He may have paid just a bit much compared to what they can be had for if you look around, but its not like $200 is too much to pay for one of these.

It's a Yugo, you can tell by the grenade launcher on it.

Blade type bayonet = chances are it's a Yugo.

Blade type bayonet = chances are it's a Yugo most countries that made SKS's.

Early Russian ones had a spike-style bayonet and early Chinese ones had a blade-style bayonet, but they switched to a spike one later on.

My Russian has a blade.

If I remember correctly, my Russian has a hammer & sickle on it.

Nice!

I had a Yugo, shot very well, excellent construction, but too dang long and front heavy for my taste.

Have a russian one now, much better handling (for me).

You have a quality SKS there (no chrome-lined barrel though).
