Man registers .345 blood-alcohol level

SCOTTSDALE - His blood-alcohol level was so high that it had the effects that experts say is near surgical anesthesia.

Peter Hickock was passed out at his home in Scottsdale on Sunday when his 5-year-old daughter called 911.

Hickock could face child endangerment charges, Scottsdale police said.

Hickock, 40, was found unconscious and bleeding in the 7600 block of East Williams Drive, near Scottsdale and Pinnacle Peak roads.

He was transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Shea with a 0.345 percent blood-alcohol content, police said. At .35 coma is possible

Emergency responders found the only food in the house was peanut butter and bread.

The 5-year-old's mother was on vacation in Hawaii and left the girl in the custody of Hickock, according to Scottsdale Detective Sam Bailey.

The parents share joint custody, although the girl is now in custody of a family friend.

I don't know if this beats my personal best. I never had staff on hand to test my blood alcohol level during my better meetings with the bottle.

Had a LEO friend give a DUI at .39 once a few years ago. Record still stands in that county for highest DUI ever!

Peter Hickock of Scottsdale,Az. is a "Light weight".

At apporx. 0815 hrs., I responded to a traffic crash where a guy hit a parked car. He was slightly intoxicated. We took him to the hospital to be medically cleared before jail.

He jumped off the examination table and started walking out. I asked for a blood draw and he agreed. His BAC was .466. That guy was walking and talking as good as anyone in the emergency room.

The ass kept asking in he killed anyone. I reassured him he only hit a parked car. Nobody was injured.

He said, his son was killed by a drunk driver two weeks before. WTF was this guy thinking?

Highest I ever saw in a DUI was .317. A woman (pretty used-looking) about 50. .21 - .24 is not uncommon.

For the LEOs, what does a breathalizer cost? It would be interesting to have around.

That five year old should know better than to invite 'the man' into her life!

I'll bet he could get $4.50 per gallon for his urine at the pump.

What a fucking douchebag. Oghta beat his ass with an empty whiskey bottle.

I like a drink, or ten, but NEVER when I'm in charge of my little one.

My .466 guy had to have alcohol running through his veins 24 hours a day.

Had a .39 about 10 years ago. About 4 years back I got another one at .366. That guy was walking and talking as if nothing was wrong. When I started him on tests, he just about fell on his head. Straight vodka, and said he went thru about a 1.75 liter of it a day. When I asked him why he was drinking he said because he just got fired from his job at a furniture store.

I asked why he got fired. (I know I should have known, but I had to ask) He says, "for drinking at work." He'd rear-ended another car in traffic. Medics witnessed it and got out & talked to both parties involved. They told something seemed weird about the guy. I barely noticed he was drunk at first. He was apparently very used to living in the .30 and up world.

About 10 years back the city next door to us had a car vs. pedestrians fatal. Hispanic male drove off the road into a parking lot hitting and killing two ladies. His BAC? .521.

I had to re-read the newspaper article because I didn't believe I actually read it right.

.521?

WOW. Most people would be comotose and on their way to being dead at that point.
Link Posted: 2/28/2006 4:26:26 AM EDT
There was a guy here a couple years ago that got three duis within four or five months, the lowest of which was .43. Think the highest was .46. All three from wrecks. HighestI ever got anyone at was .37, and he was quite functional. A pro, I guess.

I had a go at it last "hunting" trip...drank from noon till bar close- finished the night with see through drinks of near solid bacardi from 6 till close. Was so drunk i even DANCED. Could hardly walk or talk- had our designated driver give us a ride home- I gave him the wron directions...in other words...wasted...got back to the 'cabin' and blew into the friend po po's PBT only got a .187. I figured I should have been well over 2.

kinda goes to show how much difference the BAC can make in different people.

edit....NO i am not suggesting that we should modify the legal numbers up, just that when the do-gooders make .001 the max BAC for driving...

Er docs knew her, it wasn't the first time she had come in like that.

hell i can't walk or function at a .25

Severe alcoholics are often like that.

I know a fellow who couldn't function unless his BAC was over the legal limit.

He eventually ended up in a crash that killed his wife and got sober, but he wasn't at fault for the crash.

Normal people would be dead.

Severe binge drinkers can tolerate that level of BAC.
