This is my first try at camo…

Here’s the process:

1. Sand down all paintable surfaces.
2. Clean thoroughly with denatured alcohol.
3. Paint with primer. Let dry overnite.
4. Paint base camo. Muzzle to butt – OD, tan black, tan, earth brown in striped pattern. Let dry overnite. It was necessary to shroud certain areas to accomplish striped effect.
5. Using self-made stencils, spray on contrasting camo blotches. Let dry overnite.
6. Next step is to spray with satin poly to preserve / protect camo paint.

I used reglaur spray paints from Home Depot. Nothing fancy.

Yes, that is a CAR stock I’m gonna turn into a comp stock – my own proprietary design.

Looks great what folding stock are you using? Do you have a source.

Thanks.

Its a Butler Creek folder that I took the folder off. I used the pistol grip and the metal bracket off the Butler Creek

I milled and drilled and threaded a aluminum block to attach to the metal bracket to accept screws.

I got a "pig nose" (that's what they call it) from www.riflestocks.com to receive the buffer tube, that is then attached to the alum block.

First time I shot it as is it knocked the crap out of me and cut my face. I decided I would have to modify the stock to absorb some of the recoil. I think I got the design worked out - now off to the shop.

I went thru all this crap cuz NO ONE makes anything like it for the Win 1300.

I think it looks good, although I'm not a fan of woodland.

I think J&T carries he (Copstock) folder that is supposed to absorb 50% of the recoil. For the 1300 me thinks.

Oh BTW. Cool camo. It looks like my factory camo job on my 835 turkey slayer. And yes, in the hands of the master its is a slayer. 11 Toms and counting in just a few years.

Link Posted: 5/4/2004 4:29:52 PM EDT
I like it! It has a certain kind of christian suck appeal!

Alright then, YOU sux too.

Link Posted: 5/4/2004 5:54:09 PM EDT
Just don't put it down on your cammies when you come home from the field for night of ???

On the other hand you wasted a lot of time on a crummy auto shottie, but it doesn't sux.

Auto shotties are for women.

Sweet... I've been wanting to camo one of my guns but just can't get myself to do my first paintjob every on a $1500 gun. Now, my $150 Norinco shotgun on the other hand... hmmm I could do that. Since it always sits under the bed should I paint it to match the carpet?

That's where I was.

Now I think I'll do my SPR build.

Link Posted: 5/5/2004 4:14:28 AM EDT
so...if a woman had an auto shottie...would she suck?

or..would there have to be some kind of camo paint involved...

No, we are not being serious. It is a group from another forum that has "fallen" into GD because some buttons don't work. Simple light ribbing/humor.

It does look good. Has the light/dark "bands" on it, no perfectly straight lines. From a distance, it doesn't look like a "brown stick". That is the look you should strive for.

You can add little details to make it look sweet up close.

Sadly, "effective" camouflage is ugly, and the Pretty camo isn't effective. Realtree turns into a brown blob 20 feet away.

I have a bit of experience in this area, and I can say that it looks good.

(in a "it sux" kind of way )
