Wheels. Not wheels=car, I mean they really, honest-to-God, rent sets of rims and tires. 20s up to 26s.

With college homecoming this weekend, he doesn't have a single set in the store. Just when I thought everything had been done already, some shit just amazes me.

Yeah I got a flyer in the mail for that. It will be opening in a month or so.
You can rent some 22s and tires for $155 a month. No credit check

Guess we'll be seeing some real hoopties with nice wheels and tires.

Smartass. I guess things just move a little slower here. I like it that way.

This guy was claiming something like %55 profit if people made their payments on time, and close to %200 profit if they wound up behind on payments. I'm in the wrong bidness.

Rent to own. First cars, then furniture, computers, cell phones.......anything that is "must have".

Customer's Choice (a furniture rental store) in Tulsa has rent to own custom wheels. I predict it will be quite popular.

If you look at the rims in those shops you'll see most all of them are made in China, even a lot that Discount Tires has are Chinese.

And it's going to be much easier to repo the items than RTO furniture, computers, etc.  Most of the clientele won't have garages.  All you need is a truck, a floor jack, and 4 CMU blocks per delinquent customer.  -Jeff

Well of course.. Most of it is show, not go.  It's not quality that matters, just flash.  If you could drill out the rims and put in blinking LED's and glow in the dark busts of the virgin mary, you'd sell the shit faster than you could get the sweatshop to crank 'em out.

But none of those cool stay-spinning kinds though.

I think this thread actually made me dumber

Who the hell would rent rims for a car?
Let me get this straight.....you would pay someone to have a certain type of wheel....for say a few days....then return it?

back in the day we would call that a poser, or a joneser....actually...both.

No shit. My wife and I were in the Bahamas in April, and what surprised me the most, was that almost every vehicle down there had 20" rims and low profile tires. Even the mistu vans they used for taxis.

Wow, actually, that's not a bad idea at all... you might want to patent it...

I saw something on the History Channel I thought of back in the mid '90s, can't believe that someone actually made it...

I think you guys are missing a part of it... many of these places are "rent to own". Makes it easier to spread out the welfare checks. I looked at their selections for my truck (I have the XL, which means 17" wheels on a full size F150. Thats a no-no ) Most of them are crap. My wheels, which will be a very conservative twenty inches, are coming from Steeda .

It's a good bet that if they have to rent wheels, they're the type of folks that don't pay their bills or return movies on time.

I am not afraid to admit that the filipino part of me really liked that idea.  I guess stereotypes are true!  I am failing my flip heritage by only having 18's on my "ride".
