During a recent deployment for Hurricane Katrina and then Rita with my National Guard Unit, I had ample opportunity to examine my newly issued M4 carbine.  It seemed to have a different finish than the one I had while on active duty, kind of a cheezy black finish that wore rapidly.  I checked the upper reciever and carrying handle and they both bore the triangle Diemaco proofmarks.  My rear sight tower had an 1/8 in gap, every M4 in the arms room did and the rear sight itself and the stock seem to be made by Colt.

I thought all our small arms, from M9 to M240 had to be made here in the states?

Maybe they're short M16s and M4s for you guys?

Thanks for your service.

Diemaco is now Colt Canada. Bought out by Colt just recently.

So, enjoy !
