I already posted this on another forum I'm a member of, but I figured you guys might be interested, too. Here are a few pics of the cabin my family inherited a couple years ago when my mother's brother passed away. 4 beds upstairs (one room), one master bedroom downstairs, and a room with a pool table that I don't have pictures of. The cabin is about 30 miles northwest of Laramie and sits, along with my Uncle's cabin, on 300 acres. There are no neighbors for a few miles in any direction. We have some .22 target set up off the front porch, and a 100 yard bench a couple hundred yards away in a small valley. For longer shots, we shoot off my uncle's front porch up to and past 1000 yards onto a friend's property. Anyway, here are the pics now that she's nice and clean. Whaddya think?

WOW!!! That is gorgeous! What a great place to shoot, hunt, camp and whatever else you feel like doing. Enjoy the fruits of your uncle's labor and success.

That cant be real.
I dream of winning the lottery and living in that place. |

I love my uncle to death, and he's the one I credit for getting me interested in guns, but the man didn't do a damn thing to earn that cabin. It was homesteaded a LONG time ago to a great great uncle of mine. My grandfather gave his cabin to my uncle and built his own (now my other uncle's). The uncle we inherited this from let the place go to shit. I've spent every free second I could up there painting, digging fire pits, cutting fire wood, and cleaning to get it pack into the shape it could be in. I hope to buy out our "neighbors" some day so we don't have anyone even remotely close. |
Me too, man, me too. I was up there just about ever week this summer for a couple days. Shoot, cut wood, paint, and work during the day, drink beer, grill steaks, and bullshit around the camp fire at night. It's heaven. Everything moves so much slower up there and all your problems go away. |
That is incredible! That *IS* winning the lotto! Someday I hope to have a place like that where I can call it my home. Reality tells me it'll never happen though.

Your dog looks just like mine.
I have 160 acres in Colorado and I try to get up there every weekend. |
I don't know, to be honest. I don't think so. You take I-80 from Laramie toward Rawlins and take the Herrick Lane exit. A few county roads and dirty roads later, you arrive at my cabin. I really don't know the area all that well. |
Where do you keep the bombmaking materials, Kaczynski?
Just kidding, it looks nice. How many acres? I am thinking of buying a few acres out in the country near where I grew up. I would love to build a cabin out there some day. |
Good call. 160 is a good chunk of land. Do you have a cabin on it? Any pics? |
Looks like heaven on my screen Congrats, you did a nice job up there. |
If it's towards Rawlins, it's not by Centennial. Good thing, buncha hippies there.
You have no idea how much I envy you. I dream of living in a place like that.
I live in the wilderness, and I just have to say.......
AWESOME! PS. why does your dog look photoshopped? |
You make be sick. But I'll be patiently waiting for my invite.
Beautiful place, I am am envious in the good way, please enjoy it for me. Oh and that's the poorest black bear I've ever seen, looks like a dog.
LOL I don't know why he looks Photoshopped. What looks wrong with him? |
its a hole-
I can help find someone to take it off your hands though.... |
Nice Place!
Do you have a spring or clear creek? Is there electric power there? Are there antelope, whitetails, and mule deer? Bears? Coyotes? Wolves? Buffalo? Elk? |
How about some pics of your cabin? |
Nice but aren't you worried about that black bear in the last pic?
I took some, and they are on a disk, but I don't know how to get them to few enough bytes to allow uploading to the photo server, and I hate bugging Sniper_Wolfe all the time to do it. Ignorance is NOT bliss. On a positive note--last weekend I finished the shower, so I'll be able to take my first shower (ever!) in the state of Missouri. It's slowly coming along--I keep plugging every weekend. Thanks for asking, but I'll start a thread like this soon, and when I do I'll send you a heads-up. Sorry for the hijack. |

Damn...I love Wyoming. My Father just got back from a backpacking trip last week. He's was near Cheyanne. I would love to have a cabin like that. You're a lucky man.
I do have one question though. I've travelled through Wyoming once, spending the night in Cheyenne. When I arrived at the hotel, it was windy as hell and around 3:00AM I was awakened by the wind. When I went down to check out I remarked about how windy it was and the girl behind the counter said, "Oh, it's always like that here". Is it constantly windy at your cabin? That would drive me nuts. |

no shadow, must have been on an overcast day. looks more like a small bear than a dawg |
There is a spring, but no creek, unfortunately. We've thought about redirecting some water from some neighboring land so we could have a fishing pond, but thought it just wouldn't be worth the money. Yup, there is electricity and running water from a well under the cabin. Antelope, deer, elk, coyotes, bears, mountain lions, and even a moose last year. For target practice we have a fair selection of prarie dogs. Not many are left, thanks to Mr. Rimfire, but there are TONS about a mile down the road on a friend's land. |
LMAO. That's Jake. He's at his diet weight right now, too! He's an 8 year old black lab. For a while he was up to around 105-110 lbs, but he got sick, had surgery, and has since hit a plateau of about 90 lbs. |

Wyoming in general is a damn windy state, but oddly enough, it really isn't bad at my cabin. I don't know if I just tend to have good timing when I plan my trips or if we're in some sort of dead zone, but it's rarely extremely windy. I do like to blame my shitty shooting on that, though. |

Haha. Nope, unfortunately. Between the two (and a half) cabins up there we have enough firearms to invade Canada, so it's a bit too risky. That, and you have to have keys to get through some of the gates, and you have to be careful about obeying the easements with the other landowners, etc. It's just too much of a hassel to make it worth while, ya know? |
Nice digs. Wyoming as just an amazing place too. You are very fortunate to have that, I'd NEVER let that slip out of the family.
No doubt. I won't ever let it go. |
ROFL. I can hardly take care of myself. I live off beer, hotdogs, steak, and corn flakes. |
Just looks like it was cut and pasted on the background. I guess it is just the contrast between the black dog, light ground. |
