Last week on Wednesday, I stopped by Cabelas on the way home. I saw this with a 500 round daily limit. I got 475 rounds.

The next day on the way home, I saw this, and tried for 525 rounds, and nobody told me "no".

Then, on Friday, I stopped by during my lunch break and got 525 rounds. But they had 3 registers open, so I went back in a second time and bought another 525 rounds from a different cashier.

Finally, on my way home from work I went in one again, and the difference is apparent. I bought 500 rounds of mini mags on my final trip and almost bought all the remaining mini mags.

Cabelas is my go-to for 22. Here's my final stash over a 48 hour period of time.  I could have done better if I did a lunch trip on Thursday, but whatever. I assume by now, the standard velocity CCI have all sold.

I would have done the same thing if I had the chance. Around my town I cant find 22lr besides now powder rounds. Although I do enjoy being able to shoot in my backyard I wish I could buy it like years past. Too many folks camping out at walmart at 7am.

These days, I find myself becoming extremely sick of the .22 situation.  When I finally shoot up my existing stash (acquired over many years), I may not even replace it.

I gave up on 22. Any new shooters I teach will have to learn with 9mm.

I bought a Magnum Research MLR-1722 with a gorgeous laminate stock and graphite wrapped barrel almost two years ago.

I've shot 45 rounds through it.

Yeah, there's plenty of CCI Mini-Mags around here, but all $9 or $10 a box.

That Federal AutoMatch is what I'm keeping an eye out for - IIRC, the local Gander has some a few weeks ago at $23, still decent given the situation, and $22 there looks pretty good as well. (If WM ever has it, it's like $18-$19, but I do not recall the last time I saw anything beyond 50-round boxes at any of the local WM.)

Every time that I go to Cabela's, there's AutoMatch sitting on the shelves. I have no urge to neckbeard it anymore. I'm ashamed to say that sometimes I see it and don't buy any. Then I head over to Freugal's and get a bottle of scotch. I don't neckbeard that either.

Neither place has let me down in the last few months.

Not this year. I've got other 22 to use up. I'm still sitting on a few bricks of pre-panic Wal-Mart Federal which I need to dig out and replace with my newly acquired 22.

Are those plastic buckets of 1400rd  Golden bullets sealed well?  I grabbed two this the spring, and will store them for later use.

brand new golden bullets function like they have been stored underwater for 5 years. I think you'll be fine.

I have plenty, but I never shoot it, except for indoor shooting with my Colibris.  When I get to go to the range it's all 5.56 , 9 or 45.  This 22 problem hasn't affected me.  I have arfcom to thank.  Years ago, someone said, every time you go to WM for any reason, grab a brick.  I did.

I think I'm right at 8 cents per round on average with tax.

Should I open the buckets to let them dry out a bit?

I recently found a bunch of CCI mini mags in a large sporting goods store (first time anywhere within 1.5 hours in the past 2 years).  I saw the sign for a green tag sale and was hopeful.  But, they were $20.99 per 100 rd box (before tax)!!  I walked away.  I have several thousand rounds of various .22lr, but would like to stock up. But, it can hardly be found, and the cheapest is $0.12/rd.
