I noticed My fitness pal being mentioned alot here, But theres no group to join composed of ar15.com members. I suggest we form one, I went through and filled out all the Information, Actually, Found out i can create it without needing a minimum of names.
This should allow us to see each others progress and daily food journals. The group link is right here: My fitness pal AR15.com group |

Joined. Just found the app this morning. Pretty slick that you can scan bar codes with it.

I just joined. I've been in a state of denial about my weight for too long. Cleb's MFP thread lit a much needed fire under my ass, hopefully I can keep it lit.
I'm using the same screen name there as here. Edit: misspelled it, missing the "i". Oh well. |

Joined, still in a winter bulk till February then cut till I'm happy with what I see.
Feel free to add me to your friends list. I have it set so friends can see and copy my meals. |

I'm a myfitnesspal user. It works great if you keep using it. I dropped over 20 lbs using it. I only use the app on my phone so when I click your link I don't remember my login to join your group.

In, and added the app to my BB. Now lets see if I actually use it!
For exercise it doesn't look like it will accept weight training (ie, I searched "squat" and got no results). Any help? K |

The best way to record exercise is to wear a HRM and enter to calorie burn. I don't enter any exercise and listed myself as sedentary so any calorie burn is just bonus.

What's the point of being in a group? Do we 'friend' each other and criticize each others' routine and diet or copy them or what?

So far I'm loving this app/website. I've spent a week logging EVERY thing I eat and it's fairly easy, everything I've eaten has been in the food database. Also really handy to check things BEFORE you eat them, especially in fast food situations (for instance today a chicken sammich with no mayo rang in under 300 cals, while adding mayo took it up to 400. How much mayo do they put on those things?)
And logging workouts adds a bit of gamesmanship to it for me anyway. I'm the laziest person I know, but so far I've made myself do at least some kind of exercise every day so it shows up in my log. Right now I'm down 5 with about 35 more to go. I know it's going to slow down, but dropping 5lbs in a week - definitely positive reinforcement! |

It's great for logging food, just keep in mind your first 15 or so lbs will be water weight and thats why they'll drop off so quickly. But the key is to logging it long term because even after you hit your goal you can use it to make sure you're not over eating past your maintenance calories. |

And I told the app that I was sedentary, so any workouts I do are just bonus calories burned. I've been getting on an elliptical for 20mins at least every other day. I'm feelin' fantastic! |

ok, I signed up with my same username as here. So, whats up with the pal/group part of it though?

56 members now, awesome!
I've really let myself slack off on the cardio lately . I've got to find something to occupy my mind while on the treadmill. Even so, I'm up to 11.8lbs lost so far. 1500 calorie diet is still easily doable if I avoid junk food. When I do get a "treat", it's something like a fancy salad or a McDonald's Southwest Chicken salad - man those things are awesome. What's not awesome - lack of alcohol. I haven't had a drop since New Year's Eve. I even took all the beer out of the fridge to "free up space"... what have I become? I'm telling myself if I can power through until Saint Patty's day I'll imbibe then. I have to say, my wife's been a great help. She's very stern that the Oreos are for HER ONLY. |

Ive been using myfitness pal for sometime, but have slacked lately. Needed some motivation so I joined the group.

I've lost a hair over 17lbs since new years and MFP is a great tool that has helped a lot, the forums can be full of WTFness and they use a horrible board code. Other than that I loe the site, only other complaint is differences from the main site and the app. For example my phone will show me a graph of my calorie intake for the week, with an average, I can find the graphs on the site but haven't found the averages yet New years day: 350lbs on sunday: 333 about 17 lbs lost ( don't pay any attention to anything to the right of the decimal on the scale, at my size that seems a bit ridiculous |

I love love love this app. I had been doing a ton of running and lifting but wasn't seeing any results -- all because of my crappy food choices. I lost 10 lbs with this. I actually had to give up the particular healthy diet (high protein, low fat, lower carb) that I was following due to cancer treatment. I'm fine now, so I've just started logging again as of earlier this week. Hoping to lose 10 pounds using it! |
