My wife and two of four kids are down with flu. I worked a 12 yesterday. We’re not having thanksgiving this year. Not on thanksgiving anyhow.

My in laws came in last night to visit, drink, watch planes trains and automobiles, and to help with food prep. Today, the wife and our niece are getting everything ready for dinner at 3. It's nice to have in-laws you get along with.
Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless! |

I resemble that remark. Supposed to be somewhere an hr away by 1, still haven’t left yet.

We always do Thanksgiving around noon. Honestly my preference would be more like 2:00 but we try to follow the way his family has always done things as closely as possible.
My mom is a Jehovah's Witness so we never did holidays and the sister local to me does stuff with her husband's side of the family. All of my husband's family except for one have all passed on so those traditions from his childhood are all he has left. |

Thanksgiving dinner at noon and they just don't show? Yeah, more timely regrets are in order.

Noon is way too early. We are eating around 430PM. We normally don't even eat dinner at home until 6-7PM.

??
Dinner is eaten at whatever time was given. If dinner is at noon, we start eating at noon. If you're late, you're late. If you are really late all the food will have been consumed. Too bad, so sad. |
|
Start eating at 12:00. Eat fast and put the leftovers in the Kitchen.
Noon is the appropriate time for Thanksgiving Dinner. |

If it’s gon’ be that kind of party you should stick your dick in the mashed potatoes

Had this situation on Halloween a couple years ago. Let them eat cold food, then tell them to leave. NO leftovers, MY food.

If it starts at 12 you can start eating. Also 10 min is late is nothing. I have family members who regularly show up 30+ minutes late. Hell I had a uncle that would show up AFTER the party was over, like we would be pulling out of the driveway when he would be pulling in.

Quoted: You eat dinner at noon? I would be fine if you didn't wait for me and ate without me. I don't want to eat dinner in the middle of the day. View Quote When I was a kid we'd visit both sides of my family, so one dinner at noon, then another at 5 or 6...we make thanksgiving dinner now and we tell my parents to come at 2pm. It still seems too early, but whatever. Old people like eating earlier I guess |

Tell em you said grace at noon sharp, and God told you to took it all to a homeless shelter.

We are due to eat around 1:45. My uncle is hosting and he will be on time and expect everyone to be on time.

My MIL would always wait for everybody to show up before serving. Wife's sister and her bunch were always between 1 and 2 hours late. After many years I finally told everybody I wasn't going there for holiday feeds anymore because I was tired of eating cold dinners.
Contrast that with my family, if my mother said dinner at noon, those who were present sat down to eat, the stragglers got to pick thru what was left. |

I have to go sit with about 8 libtards at 4:00pm PST today... So excited.

Drinking at 9:00 AM?
You have bigger issues than tardy family. |

We had just the opposite happen to us a few years back. We were told to be there at my parents at 4:00. We planned on doing so. At 2:30 we get a call from our niece "Hey, we are about to sit down and eat, where are you guys?" I said "We were told to be there at 4! What do you mean you're sitting down to eat now. We are in the middle of something and cant be there RFN!" She said "OK then we are going to eat then and you can eat when you get here" I said "Fuck it then. Have a good time... we're not coming"

People want to watch the Macys Parade and then slowly wake up. It's not a damn work day. 2pm or later so people can watch their games on TV and make their way home with leftovers.

You know the difference between in-laws and outlaws?
Outlaws are wanted. |
|
That's rude as hell, and we've had it done to us as well a couple years ago, and the wife is still pissed off about it.
I'm more easygoing, but will eat without them. We're eating at 2pm, and if they're not here at 2pm my plate will be full by 2:15, and I'll be fat and happy drink in hand 15min later. Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I truly hope you all have a wonderful day. |

Quoted: We are eating at 12. They were all told. My wife busted her ass to have everything ready for 12. Ten after and no one is fucking here. 3 brothers and their families, parents.... No one. Glad I started drinking at 9 View Quote Holy fuck that makes me mad. Fuck I have been there many times. Even sitting in a restaurant |

Quoted: Some of us are capable of day drinking successfully. I used to do tailgates where we'd crack the first beer at sunrise, never had a problem lasting the day. Isn’t that what in-laws r supposed tp do . Piss us off . Some of us are capable of day drinking successfully. I used to do tailgates where we'd crack the first beer at sunrise, never had a problem lasting the day. Now, I wasn't closing the bars out at 2am, but would make it thru dinner time. Yes, this is true. I had a boss years ago, was probably in his early 50s. We would take customers on a fishing charter on one of the Great Lakes. About once or twice a summer. We'd stay in a rented house right next door to the marina. Would get up at 4:30am, head to the marina and be leaving the shore at 6am. He would start with the first beer at 6, and would drink throughout the morning into the afternoon when we'd return to shore. We'd return to the house, and shower, dress and meet at the restaurant bar at 5 or so. He'd have a few more beers with dinner. We'd head back to the rented house at about 7pm. He never so much as slurred his words, staggered, nothing. Appeared stone cold sober from his first beer at 6am, on. Yes, he was capable of day drinking quite successfully. (BTW, I would drink diet Coke all day due to being with customers and not wanting to feel drousy. WOuld have a few drinks at dinner). |

Thanksgiving is a dinner holiday not at noon. I wouldn't go if it was me.

Eat now and put all the leftovers away in the fridge. When they arrive offer them nothing. Oh and get roaring abusive drunk too.
