So i walked out side of my barracks room to smoke earlier, and noticed these things growing on the ground.  I like to share pics, so here you go.  How fast do these things grow?  I didnt notice them earlier.

Does anyone here know enough about edible mushrooms to be able to tell which ones will land you in the morgue?

I'd wager a bet that more people here know which ones make you trip.

Do not.....I REPEAT DO NOT...eat mushrooms you find growing wild.
Unless you are well trained and experienced in determining which species they
truly are  you run a substantial risk of fatal poisoning.

A number of years ago I had the opportunity to be at work when an entire
family of Armenian immigrants living in the area had eaten a meal that
included mushrooms that had been picked from their front yard.

Two  of the family members were toxic beyond anything that could be done
other than palliative treatment for pain etc.   The other two were put on a
list to recieve liver transplants.   I do not know if the ever got them but I
do know that if they did not they too were doomed.

Never eat mushrooms unless you know beyond a shadow of a doubt what they are.

It's not worth the risk and people do die from it.

That thread was hilarious - so many people posted "send me the mushrooms!" even though they were obviously dangerous.  I just searched for the thread but couldn't find it.  I guess I couldn't remember the "key words" well enough...

thexrayboy: A few year back, we had the same problem. A family of asian immigrants from Vietnam.  They ate some mushrooms picked at the local park, I believe one of the parents died, and the children got really really sick.  The mistake they made was that the mushrooms "looked" like the ones they ate back home, but they weren't the same.  They were close, but not the same. You have to be exactly sure, or otherwise....

Yes.  Eat the ones that come in a can, or under shrink wrap from the produce section.

This is one of those areas where it pays to take advantage of the experience of all those dead beta testers.
