Video Link 1
Video Link 2 This is pretty messed up. Those guys never had a chance given their state of readiness. ETA: New video showing raids on the AQ suppressor assassination teams. Video Link Thanks to Gooseboy on page 6 for the link |
Not watching the vids cause I am on hughesnet
But are they probably doing what is tactically correct and what I would do? CP |
That's pretty brazen and bold, especially for the cameraman to rock up behind his shooter buddy and record/release the footage. Keep doing that and the Iraqi soldiers might start getting more twitchy and catch on to them. |

CP I'm not military, but if I was an insurgent/terrorist, it makes sense to me. Basically zooming up on check points or guard shacks that only have a few guys in them, jump out and kill them all with silenced weapons, and take all their gear. |
Obviously the audio quality is poor, but I believe that well trained soldiers would recognize suppressed weapons fire. It isn't perfectly silent.
Also, those guys didn't look that ready. Most were sleeping. |
At about 1:40 of the second video (link), it looks like one of the Muj hit guys gets himself a nice new set of body armour, complete with mags and gear.

They didn't have a state of readiness. They let their guard down and paid with their lives.
Do they just basically go around doing drive-bys on checkpoints and stuff?

Can anyone ID the guns used. Thought one looked like a Glock. It looked like a glock to me also |

Quoted: Do they just basically go around doing drive-bys on checkpoints and stuff? Not just shooting from the cars, but also driving up (wearing inconspicuous civilian attire) to checkpoints and guard huts, running out swiftly and 'decisively', and shoot the guards that are on duty, then the ones sleeping/sitting in the guard huts. I'm just a civilian with no military experience, so you guys with experience can tell me how wrong I am, but they actually looked reasonably slick. Though the Iraqi guards did seem pretty much oblivious, to be fair. They may well have been paying too little attention. |
Most of those look like SoI check points. Dude are just glorified neighborhood watch.
Spend a day on, day off every day checking ID's for a year. One day someone rolls up and shoots you in the face.
Thus is life in the IA.
They are even more brave when you have your hands tied behind your back....

you get caught with yer pants down and someone will take advantage. My impression of Iraqi's were that they were lazy and lacked attention to detail. Hell they did not even like getting up before 8 am to work or train.

Religion of peace at work. Yep. Every time some heinous act is committed allah akbar is spoken or shouted. Someday its going to net a pavlovian response. |

It appears that they know what they are doing, wonder who trained them??
That's pretty messed up. We leave and pretty much the tribes go at it again, only a matter of time for the government to crumble. Iraq needs a dictator.

since when is the mujahideen in iraq? Are you being sarcastic? |
Most of the guard shacks didn't even have someone outside of them on watch. Just a bunch of guys sitting/sleeping inside.
Coming to Afghanistan...........the IA are wortheless..........however, the ANA are even more worthless, and I expect to see videos like this whenever we finally hit the eject button on Afghanistan.
get in, hit hard and fast and get the fuck out. standard guerilla tactics ? |
Those guys were in and out in 30 seconds, most of the time with a handful of stolen gear. Pretty slick.
Why were the IA guys asleep during the middle of the damn day with one guy (unarmed I think) standing watch? |

Tactics and bullets go both ways. People forget that and people die. |

Since they all believe Inshallah, they believe completely every outcome is god's will so they have no true influence on what they do. |

Because no Christian soldier has ever said "Thank God" at the successful completion of a mission. Or said "God willing, we'll succeed," before the mission began. I know my old weapon squad leader, SSG Hunter did both of those and more before and after every mission. |

Other than looting there gear I don't understand why they are taking out such low value targets. I suppose it will make the locals think twice what a waste.
Religion of peace my ass. |
