Let's see if GD really does know everything.
This was a movie from the late 70's or early 80's. It was about this kid who was a huge Detroit Tigers fan and his favorite player was this washed up old hitter. The kid believed that whenever he missed a game his player would have a bad day and the Tigers would lose. In the end kid was riding his bike through Detroit trying to get to the last game of the year just before his favorite player gets his last at bat. That's all I remember. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Two low budget criminals are on the run with a cheap whore. They end up dying as they slam their car into a train.
|
|
This should be an easier one. Early 1980s. A young boy is tormented by high school bullies so he hires a bodyguard, who happens to be a feared quiet guy that recently started attending the school. They end up becoming friends and put a motorcycle together then ride it through the streets of Chicago. That is until a muscular bald guy who is hired by the bullies as their own bodyguard against the young boy's bodyguard throws the motorcycle into a lake when the young boy's bodyguard refuses to fight him. The bald guy said something about the young boy's bodyguard having a tough magazine.

Bingo. A city cop is sent to find a man on a tropical island. He arrives to find the island recently deserted due to a nuclear missle test. While he's on the island the missle explodes and he is exposed to radiation; however, he survives seemingly unscathed. He soon realizes that the explosion has given him super powers, but the powers disappear anytime he sees the color red. |

This is a story about a street wise operative whose death is faked so they can be recruited into a secret agency. They are recruited and trained in this agency for a specific function. They are befriended in this agency by an older warrior who has a liking for them but they are not entirely too crazy about their direct instructors. At best, they are indifferent to their leaders and they don't always agree with the orientation of the agency.
Note: there is more than one correct answer. Alternately, try this one: This is the story of a hero who falls in love with the daughter of a gangster. The gangster does not like the hero and the hero has perturbed the gangster a few times. After a rough and dangerous courtship where the gangster has tried to kill the hero and rescue the daughter, the hero marries the daughter but the gangster ambushes the hero. Whether intentional or not, the daughter of a gangster dies. Have fun! _____________________________________________________________________________ ("Was it luck? Was it fate?"––Hannibal Hayes doing his radio show when Max, the sound effects man crashes over a poduim, "that caused me to crash through the trap door!" and Hayes throws away the script of his live broadcast, (w,stte), Get Smart, "Moonlighting Becomes You") |

OK here's one: Guys sells a nuclear powered vacuum cleaner to some hicks that live in a shithole. Hicks are people. Your sentence should read, "...hicks who live in..." Machines = that People = who This truck that always stalls This person who always quits Who and that. There are differences. |

That is one possible answer; there are probably about, at least, three others. Why? Because as things go, it is a common theme that can be retold a few different ways in the movies. Matter of fact, there is at least a 4th movie that such a scenario could fit as well. ________________________________________________________________________________ ("You are to be the 11th commandment; Thou shall not get away with it."––Agency boss to Remo, (w,stte), "Remo Williams") |

Okay, the other three direct movies, for the first one, are any of the Nikita flicks (Nikita, Point of No Return, and Black Cat).
The 4th possible is You Only Live Twice. Bond is killed for a specific mission where he is "recruited" into Japanese SIS. Tiger, an older warrior (whether by actual age or seniority in SIS), takes a liking to him. He's probably not too crazy about the Ninja instructor who tried to put a spear through him. He may not be indifferent to his leaders in this movie but he certainly is later on but in any event, he probably wasn't too happy when M interrupted his honeymoon by bring the submarine up under him. Now that may be reaching some and I wouldn't use it as a movie question but it does show how a story can apply to several different movies. ____________________________________________________________________________________ ("Mr. Spock, don't take this the wrong way. Why aren't you dead?"––Kirk, (w,stte), ST:TOS, "Obsession") |

Okay, I got to go get some sleep soon and I don't want to hold you guys up.
The other movie? It's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Tricky, I know, but I "id'd" Tracey's father as "a gangster" and Blofield as "the gangster". _____________________________________________________________________ ("Oh, come now, Tracey, don't be so.................proud. Your own father's profession is not entirely within the law."––Blofield, (w,stte), "On Her Majesty's Secret Service") |

Cary Grant was a civilian and a coast watcher....sort of drafted into the job. Trevor Howard was the Commander or such and he wasn't on the island with Cary. ________________________________________________________________________ ("They need a priest? I meant to say the main military character, but I seem to have screwed that up. |

Here is one for yall...
Father and Son driving a semi truck with an extended sleeper cab, that is big enough to hold a pickup truck. They drive through this tunnel with lasers and then have to switch to the pickup truck to finish the drive. 1980's if i remember correctly. |
