Have you been influenced to buy a firearm because you saw it in a movie or TV show?
|
|
Yeah, I'm looking to replace my partner with someone that looks like Pam Anderson and carries around a Desert Eagle on patrol!
|
|
Yes!, My first semi-auto pistol, Beretta 92fs, liked the one used by Mel in Lethal Weapon. I now have many semi-auto pistols, the Beretta is still my favorite.

Beretta 92 for me as well, but it was Terminator 2 that did it. The shootout in the mall kicked ass. I've mostly been influenced to buy guns from watching the History Channel. Tales of the Gun was bankrupting me. I'm still looking for a good Martini-Henry.

|
I saw "Leon" / "The Professional".
Now I want a GPMG on a tripod and a crate of rifle grenades. |
|
Quoted: I want an M41A Pulse Rifle...someday I will build one. View Quote Me too! Made by Colt. I want the gernade launcher also. |

Band of Brothers really got me itching for an M1 Garand. I'm still waiting on the two peices of paperwork I need to send into the CMP....

I bought a .44 Desert Eagle after seeing it in all the movies and Tv shows a while back. One of the biggest purchasing mistakes I made. It was a total piece of shit. FTF,FTE,stove pipes, slide release wouldn't hold half the time. Couldn't hit anything with it. Sent it back to the factory to fix slide release then sold it. The guy that bought it from me sent it back to the factory 3 more times after he bought it from me. All these problems and I had bought it new.[V]

Probably dating myself here, but...
Uzi, after reading the newspaper accounts of Operation Thunderbolt and watching the movie "Raid at Entebbe". |
|
I bought a S&W 44 mag because I saw "Dirty Harry". You know I can't seem to shoot mine as good 1 handed as Harry does [rolleyes]

Quoted: No Walthers to be like "Bond, James Bond"? View Quote Okay, I'll bite. I always wanted one, and the only reason is because it was Bond's gun. When I was able to pick one up cheap from an estate, I jumped all over it. Walther PPK/S, .380, made in Germany. The fact that it jams a lot does not at all diminish the fact that it's a cool little gun. (And for only $250, how could I go wrong?) |

mini-14, after the a-team
what a effing waste of money. anyone want to buy a ranch rifle with a butler creek folding stock, eagle flash hider and 5, 30 rounders for 500.00? |

I miss my walther PPK .380. it was very reliable and accurate too. it was so slim and easy to carry. Afther i get tired of owning my Khar P40 covert, i might go back to the little gun. People tell me all the time how unreliable PP's are, but i guess mine must have been a fluke. Fed it HP's
Dont get a pocket sized pistol in .40 it will sting your hand, or at least mine. Movies that have influenced gun purchases The Matrix-Berreta 92f various WW2 movies-M1911 Platoon-AR-15, but would end up with one anyway cause of the ARMY, also the AK Saving Private Ryan-Mauser lib |

Beverly Hills Cop, Mr Maitland, appeared he was carrying a S&W 629 with a 3 inch barrel, in the shootout scene at the end.
Bought one of those in Alaska in 91 |
|
Yep. AR-15, ever since I saw the M-16s in Vietnam newsreels. Ditto on the 1911. Beretta 92 when I saw "Die Hard". Frontstuffer when I saw "Jeremiah Johnson". Unfortunately, I didn't aquire all these cool toys until the last 4 years. For a real long time the only shootin' irons I owned were a 20ga, 12ga, .270 and a .22.

I want a "Quigley" rifle, even though I'm quite aware that that was "hollywod" shooting. Damn, but I like that Sharps .45-110.
Anyway, for those interested in the M41a Pulse Rifle, did you know you can get an AirSoft version? www.monstersinmotion.com/weapons/pulserifle.html A mere $3,000 (not including freight, of course.) |

Weapon purchased : H & K PSG-1
Movie : Sniper Verdict ? Great rifle...though not too great for $ 2500...[B)]...Probably would have spent $ 3000 though...LOL ____________________________________________ Signpost Ahead Light at the end of tunnel is the headlamp of the oncoming train [dracula] |

Hell yeah! That Christmas movie "Red Ryder" or something. Those hot little suckers are legal in Mexico and even Kali. But you got to be real careful – you could put your eye out!

View Quote LMAO! It is called "A Christmas Story". Awesome film - a classic. 2 weeks after I saw the movie "Snatch", I ran out and bought a .50 Desert Eagle - I still love that gun, and the movie. God this is so tacky, but yes! During the early eighties I got the handgun bag really bad due to turning twenty one and Miami Vice.
I fell in love with that Bren Ten carried by Crockett. I almost bought one but you had to send a $500 deposit first and then wait for your gun. Luckily I decided to buy a Colt 1911 .45 that was in the store instead. Shortly afterward the company that manufactured the Bren, (Dornaus and Dixon) went out of business and several customers lost their deposits. Also several guns were sent with no magazines and because thay are unique people who already had guns could never get more mags. That was the first gun ever chambered for the 10mm round. I still think it is the coolest looking handgun ever made! [:)] |

Scarface, guys... SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!!! A full size old school A1 with flare launcher, both grenade sights and that taped up jungle clip... I still have that monstrosity in the back of the safe...
And for a split second in the Arnie movie ERASER I saw a baddie carrying an AR-15 pistol... then I saw an Olympic OA-93 pistol in the hands of Spawn in that really bad SPAWN movie... but I had to run out and buy an AR-15 pre-ban pistol. |

It was an SR-9T, which has the PSG1 stock and pistol grip.

I forgot to mention that I was inspired to get a Minigun after watching "Predator". I now run around the jungles nearly every day shooting each leaf in sight.

"Enemy at the Gates" made me want to get a Mauser with some antique high-end glass.
I saw a .44 AutoMag on a novel cover once. I'd like one of those. "Snatch" reminded me of how much I love shotguns. And AK-100 series. BUT.... "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels" made me fall in love with the BREN. "What's that?" "Its me Bren gun." "Couldn't you have brought something more appropriate?" Beautiful, beautiful, gun. |

You really talking about the WW2, LMG, .303 Bren? No argument, excellent weapon (if you keep replacing the barrels before they melt) – just making sure we're on the same page. |

I went out and bought a Ruger MKII .22 pistol a few weeks after watching the movie "Assassins" with Sly Stallone and Antonio Bandaras. Also since the director, Dick Donner, is a big gun-grabbing nut, it only seemed like the right thing to do. ;) Now I gotta get a Beretta 92 since he directed Lethal Weapon too!!! Off to the gun store I go!!! :)

I saw US Marshals and had to run out and get that Glock 40. I saw Die Hard and went out to buy that Glock 7(?) - you know, the one that is made of ceramic and costs more than you make in a month...
Just kidding of course... Since we are talking about movie guns, anyone know what pistol Mark Wahlberg was using in "The Big Hit"? |
|
Steyr AUG/USR, thought it was the sweetest thing I had ever seen in Die Hard
|
|
I went out and bought a sword, shield, and funky Spartan hat after seeing Ben Hur. The neighbors think I'm a jackass and the city says they won't let me keep a horse and chariot in town. Can't ever get a break.

I wanted an M-1 Carbine after I saw one on the T.V. show "Combat". That was a long time ago. I have a mix matched U.S.G.I. M-1 carbine with a Winchester receiver...that I bought a long time ago.
