Kind of a tinfoil off the wall thing... BUT:

A lot of folks here that live in lefty/restrictive states SAY they are going to move to a "free state" if it gets worse.

Say things get worse in those anti-gun, ban-prone, lefty states and large numbers of residents bail out to more freedom loving states.

Will this migration be large enough to swing the demographics of states to be more and more biased to certain ways of life.  eg; will NY, NJ, MA  become outright police-states, while voters  in places like GA and TX swing the other way or at least remain as free as we are today?  (hopefully more free)?

IF this scenario takes place (over many many years) will the Union be able to exist with such opposing viewpoints or will the country fracture into two sides?

si, si... I deed knot take that eeen-two cone-sea-der-ashun

though one would expect with a more conservative based state the illegals would get pushed out either to liberal states or back over the border.

I just got here, and it ain't looking good.

However, compared to Pennsylvania...it's a breath of fresh air.

Then again, I live in a County called 'Chavez'.

Free State Project

Yes, eventually freedom loving individuals will either be put into reeducation camps for saying something un-pc or will move to unoppressed states.

Very few people will really ever move from a state over gun laws, it's one thing to say it on the internet, it's another to pull tent stakes and leave over something like that.

edit-How many people moved out of the US over the federal Assault Weapon Ban.

I moved to Texas because it is a free state. Granted, I was already in free state (MS) while in college, but I would never have consided moving to any state where standard-capacity magazines cannot be shipped.

I moved from NY to FL mainly for gun rights, so it does happen.

I think if a move can be done with no job impact, many do.

I live right on the border of Mass, it's about 2 miles away.  When I used to live in Mass and went to my Fish and Game Club in NH,  I heard quite a few members see my plates and say "I used to live there, and glad I moved".  I thought it was a bit nutty to move just because of gun laws, but Massachusetts ever building harassment of current gun owners made me think when it was time to buy a different house, I'm doing it in New Hampshire.  So now I'm one of those nuts at the gun club who moved to NH because of gun laws.

I didn't move just because of gun laws, I needed a different home.  But the decision on where was 100% clear.

I did - in 1996. I left the anti-RKBA state of WI to live in FL. The choices at that time were split between VA, FL, and TX. I sent out several resumes and after weighing my career options, chose Florida.

Moving from a Commi State to a FREE STATE was the best possible decision EVER!!!

I'm leaving NY, and I must admit, the gun laws are just as much a deciding factor as the high taxes, congestion, politics, weather, and the fact that we're the largest terror tager on the planet.

I closed on my house in Montana this Monday.  While not the ONLY reason for leaving the PRK, the insane gun laws played a major part in my decision to depart.

Also in my decision to leave was the pervasive (and growing) Nanny State bullshit foisted on the people by the solidly Democratic government in Sacramento.  Arnold gave it a damn fine try and failed.  The place is run by Unions, Democrats and illegal sympathisers and the last special election proved it.

The last straw is the absolute refusal to do a Goddamn thing about the illegal immigration (invasion) that is taking place.  When I turn on the radio and hear just as much Spanish as I do English and look around and find damn near EVERY sign bi-lingual, I'm in the wrong fucking place.

I've lived in the PRK off and on for most of my life.  When dad retired there in the 60's it was SOLID Republican and a great place to be.  Now it doesn't matter where in the state you call home, the libtards in LA and SFO run your life because they know best.

I'm leaving MD after graduation because of the gun laws.
I turned down post-graduation job oppurtunities in NY, NJ, and Ill because of the gun laws there.

ETA: Taken from a poster above.

Ever notice how anti-gun policies and high taxes/political corruption tend to go hand in hand?
It does in MD, NJ, NY, and Ill.
Saying it is "just" the gun laws is simplistic on my part.
It is all the things that go together to create that environment, that makes the state un-liveable.

It's not just guns.  The gun laws are a good illustration of the overall attitudes of the government of a particular state.  Bad gun laws usually means a troublesome state.  Phony, as in "discretionary" (haha) laws lead to corruption; you think corruption is only in the administration of the gun laws.  If it's in the mechanism it happens.

The flaw in this theory is that many socialists flee the "utopia" they have created and bring their disease elsewhere.  Look at Colorado, we are being invaded by Californicators who fucked up their state, moved here, and are trying to do the same thing here as they did there.

They are a fucking pestilence.

glad to hear I am not completely foiled in the head.  I am probably a bit off on volume of movement, though.

I guess like the rest of us, it would be nice to know what was going to happen down the road, but then it would just be too easy.
