I nominate bruce springsteen.

Crappy singer. His songs sound like they were written by a garage band. His only saving grace is he has a talened backing band that makes his lame songs sound better.

He doesn't play the guitar, he poses with it.

I'm talking about the kind of artist or band that places like rolling stone fawn over, that are big news if they had a concert coming to town, always on the classic rock kind of stations, easy shoe-in for the R&R hall of fame, etc.

Axl rose is just a crazy howdy doody wannabe!

Pretty much any "legend" is overrated.

Name me a "legend", and I'll name you someone of equal caliber and talent that didn't get the breaks and industry support.

For every Santana, that's mediocre at best, there are a whole stable of talented axemen that got ignored. This goes for songwriters, singers, bands, you name it.

Led Zep brought nothing to the table.

Black Sabbath will never get the recognition they deserve.

As a single performer?

+1 on Springsteen, throw in Kurt "I have a tummy ache" Cobain.

For a band? Pink Floyd... pretentious, semi-talented, boring peyote enspired crap.

Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Neil Young, Sting, Metalliscum...

ETA: How could I have forgotten Cobane(sp.?)- shottie to the face guy.

Janis Joplin sucks out loud worst singer of all time likely

Jerry and the Dead blow road kill

Springsteen is so utterly banal and insipid that I dont know what to say except zzzzzzzzzz...

There are others but these simply stand out...

Rush. I worked security for two of their shows, and I've never heard a major group that had a worse sound system. I haven't heard much of their music outside of the two shows, but there was no energy from any of the three members. I've seen fry cooks at McDonald's show more enthusiasm.z

ETA: How could I forget U2! I worked at one of their shows in May 1997, and it looks like after as many years as they've performed live, they would have learned at least a little about how to do it. Their show was an insult to the thousands of people that paid $54 each to be there and a bigger insult to the 200+ guys that worked hard to build the set. They substituted lights and crap for the band's lack of effort.

Rush has never been a 'jump around like a rock star' band. They're too busy playing their parts (a lot of things are triggered with their feet during the concert)

It's like the entwsitle effect...He could stand there looking bored and just completely shred on the bass.

All of them. American music crashed and burned with Glenn Miller. I've never particularly cared for rock, but it is slightly higher in my esteem than modern country.

I guess I like classic most. Although older country is fun to listen to when crossing country Route 66.

Dylan or Joplin

as for bands I dislike AC/DC greatly
but will listen to it if the alternative is some genre of music i do not like
like most rap and country ,although I like Chris LeDeux and DMX how weird is that?
