First and foremost - Cheap Trick. The band has 30 years of touring, contributions to over two dozen movie soundtracks, songs featured on several television shows, have continually toured working as both opening act and headliner, releases new material (next album release is June/2006).

Cheap Trick with Rachel Ray!

The Shazam - a power rock band that still sounds great!

Just watched ole Emmett Otter this past Christmas. Used to be a tradition, I'm trying to fire it back up again.

PS The Riverbottom Nightmare Band rocked waaayyyy harder then Emmett...

Jimmy Page, IMHO is underrated.  He has been on so much stuff outside of Zeppelin.  The guy owns the guitar.

+1.

Primus live is not a concert, it's a glimpse at musical genius.

Not only that, but every show they play, you can buy online, recorded straight from the soundboards.

I bought the last show I saw. It was $12 for 3 CD's worth of INCREDIBLE music.

Why doesn't every band do that?

P.S.- Les Claypool is to the bass guitar as Jimmy Hendrix was to the electric guitar...maybe even better.

Something about the Wallflowers always made me think they never got the fame they deserved, or maybe more appropriately they never reached the fame they could have.

As far as country music:
Old Crow Medicine Show! One of the best country music bands playing right now, but you've never heard of them. Way btter and back to the roots of true country music than any of the commercial crap you hear on radio or see on CMT. Same with Shooter Jennings, Waylons son. He is better than the Country top 40'ers but probably will never climb out of the shadow. But if you like real county, check out OCMS.

No flame here - Dream Theater is AMAZING - never heard a group that was so "tight" and has an amazingly complex sound.  And even their covers are incredible.  Their cover of "Funeral for a Friend" gives me goosebumps.

I was hoping they might release a new one this year (seems like it's about time), but I haven't heard anything on the list-serv.  Spectres & Some Enchanted Evening are supposed to be remastered and released this year with some never-before-released tracks added, though.

With 21 albums spanning more than 4 decades and untold reissues/collections out there (plus the remastered pre-BOC Stalk-Forrest Group CD released a couple of years ago) you would think we "Cultists" would have enough to listen to... but I'm always looking forward to more.
