A driver's license left behind at the scene of a bloody April 2 robbery in Everett has led to felony charges against a Tacoma man.

Joseph Austin Simons, 20, joined an as-yet-unidentified assailant in shooting and stabbing a 26-year-old Everett man, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Michael Magee alleged Tuesday in Superior Court papers.

Simons and another man were in the victim's apartment when the defendant pulled a .38-caliber revolver and demanded cash, Magee alleged.

The victim struggled and was shot twice, once in the neck and once in the jaw. He also was stabbed four times and underwent emergency surgery.

Simons was linked to the holdup after his driver's license was found in a jacket that one of the robbers had lost during the struggle, Magee said. The shooting victim and his roommate identified Simons as the gunman when shown his photograph as part of a montage, he added.

Simons was arrested Sunday in Pierce County on unrelated charges, including failure to appear for sentencing in a child rape case. Prosecutors are asking that he be jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail.

     assault w/a deadly weapon

     Probably some other charges that an LEO could figure out.

And that's just what he was caught doing.
