You're joking but there's nothing illegal about carrying cash on you.  We shouldn't be able to confiscate someone's property on the assumption of guilt.

Nothing, $1.5 mil. is small potatoes to the cartels and the probably just consider the loss the cost of doing business.

I would expect a guy from Kali to know about how the cartel treats mules that lose money.

Or, they just said he consented. Who's to stop them? Or prove that he didn't "consent"?

The powers-that-be don't want folks to deal in cash. They want everything to be electronic so it's recorded and traceable, and can be diverted (or blocked) instantaneously.
So they do what they can to drive the sheeple into electronic-only transactions. "Hmmm, if I have too much cash on me I might lose it all if I run into highway bandits patrol officers... best use my card..."
And good luck trying to get seized/"forfeited" property back... making that process as expensive and difficult as possible is part of their strategy...

They seize it because they know that no one will ever take it to court.

And they can't get their cut or monitor what you spend.

I paid cash for my medium duty wrecker I bought a couple years back-crossed 2 states to get it and was sweating it the whole way.Not in the least worried about "criminals",but LE and having the cash confiscated.

I never carry less than a thousand on me-the vast majority of people I know are lucky to have a dollar on them.

Remember the credit card ads not long ago?Where everything was running like a well oiled machine as people paid with plastic. Then someone opens their wallet and sihit grinds to a halt.Slowly we are moving away from cash.

The hilarious part is that it seems like most of the time, the guy paying by credit card takes the longest.  Either because the system is slow, or because his card is worn out, or the reader is worn out or a combination of all three.

For some reason, I'm not as bothered by incidents such as this, as I am by the cases where the police seized say, a thousand dollars, or some other small figure.

(Not that I'm defending this, mind you.)

I guess he heard the GWB was going to raise the toll from $40 to 1.5 mill, either that or he had to go to Long Island too!!!

Nothing to see here, no stinking 4th amendment when it comes to your cash.
