All of these pussy yuppies drinking this new "moonshine" shit would run for their safe space if they had the real thing.

First time I saw it in store i laughed that they chose the paint thinner can.

The tax paid is only half of what makes it fauxshine. The weak-ass 80 proof is the other.

I just hope I don't mistakenly grab the can of paint stripper and take a chug. What we call Moonshine in in America is called
Vodka was in Europe. |
|
Its a fad that's all...hmmm liquor, that reminds me....I will be cracking a fresh bottle of bourbon tonight
|
|
Cool can, but still a watered down, unaged whiskey. I may or may not have a mason jar of genuine 190 proof.

Had some "real" moonshine from a couple Guardsmen out of SW Virginia. I found it to be quite drinkable and delicious, albeit a tad strong, ABV-wise. I'm sure most of the "real" stuff is rotgut, but I'm also sure some folks take pride in what they distill. If only the barriers to legal distillation weren't so onerous. |

I had some Russian Moonshine that had anise in it, I was surprised that I actually liked it.

There are different grades of moonshine.
Courtin' shine. The finest grade. This is what you take to your potential In-Laws. Sippin' shine. Goes down smooth. Drinkin' shine. Rougher, but good for a BBQ or such. Popskull shine. Goes down hard, but you'll forget your troubles tout de suite. Rotgut. Can be used as paint thinner. Firsts or foreshot. Contains the methanol and other undesirable -nols. Can lead to blindness, especially if the batch is contaminated by using radiators. |

I will try it, like the can. <img src=http://www.ar15.com/images/smilies/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

I think they will sell a shitload just due to the can, smart marketing folks.
I may buy one just for shits and giggles even if it taste like ass. In Ohio its easy to get some of the real stuff if you know the right people |

The can is strictly a marketing tool, kinda like the Tincup whisky bullshit.

I saw that stuff in the store for the first time a couple of months ago and I thought it was "Shithouse"...as in if you drink this you'll be Shithoused. I was going to buy a can until I further inspected the packaging.
|
|
I saw that a Fry's/ Kroger's today. I knew that it would be by the jars of 'shine that I bought before.
Dink your bottle of turpentine. |

My jars are smooth tasting , real deal corn whiskey. Ive tried the store bought stuff and it is absolute garbage. |

I think i understand this...we pay a premium for corn liquor that is aged in oak barrels for a few years then call it bourbon...someone takes corn liquor bypasses the aging process and years of rack storage, comes up with a marketing/packaging plan and still commands a premium...gotta love Murica

All the shine I've had including the flavored ones come from Tenn. near Douglas Lake. Smooth with a good little bite to it. Wish I had some for Xmas |

All the "real" shine I've had was as smooth as a high end vodka. Although they weren't making it to sell, they were making it to be awesome.
The grappa was outstanding too. |
|
Yip, once youve had really good , real deal, you can tell store bought garbage.
They advertise its made the same, but I have yet found any as good as backwoods corn whiskey. |

I was finally able to sample some real shine earlier this year.
Only took 50 years or so. What a wonderful thing, loved the taste and after notes, buzz. I was fortunate to try two different "runs". I've never been able to pick out different notes in alcohol but boy I sure could here. I thoroughly enjoyed it, it's a shame that a majority Americans will never get to sample it. I find it funny that you can tell when people are FOS about actually having tried the real deal. |

I bought a can just last week because I was amused by the can. Not bad, very sweet and astringent. Doesn't leave you with that bad a hangover. Good for mixing with stuff like vanilla pepsi.

I dont understand the guys who say that good shine needs to be above 90 proof or whatever. I get that sometimes you may want a warm one at 100 or even 120, but you get much above that and your just being a masochist about it. You get none of the flavor and all of the pain, so whats the point; I drink to enjoy the beverage or the company, adding pain seems silly.
Any body who adds the firsts to the runs should be forced to drink it. Methanol is the first thing to boil off, it is this that can make you go blind, the sad thing is, if you arent a fucking idiot, its very easy to avoid mistakenly putting into the run. |
|
Wish I knew where to get real deal Moonshine. Never had the stuff. I'd love to try apple pie or something.

Whisky is usually aged in a barrel, which gives it color. |
