Ok, I get it.  It was ridiculous.  But when I was just a young scrap of a lad growing up in the 70's, this was the first Bond/spy movie I ever saw.
It had space shuttles blasting off, a massive orbiting space station for an evil villain' lair, astronaut laser fights, an awesome henchman with an evil, metallic smile, and even some ninja types thrown in the mix.

It was all right, but your judgement is clouded by nostalgia, Mister.

"Live and Let Die" IS the best Bond flick, BTW.

Moonraker could have been an excellent Bond film if only they had someone else play Bond.

You Only Live Twice will always be my favorite.

I'll agree with you, for much the same reasons.

Skyfall, Casino Royale, Goldfinger and Thunderball are the best Bond films.
Live and let Die  is the best Moore film.

I remember watching Moonraker in the theater and thinking, "this is the best special effects I've ever seen. They'll never be topped."

It was my 1st and the most memorable.

I would not object to a reboot with contemporary FX and realism in the way space travel is portrayed.

The big question is, who will play Jaws?

Actually they are pretty good.  Looks more realistic than half of the CGI crap that is cranked out today.  Other than sound in space, there's not much there that I thought was fake looking.

Roger Moore was a blight on the series.

Moonraker is the worst.  In fact, when I think of Bond movies I don't really like they are almost all Moore films, though I'm no Brosnan fan either.

I thought Moonraker was a great movie up until the shuttle launches from Drax's Amazon lair After that, the movie just fell apart

Amazon prime has a bunch of the Bond movies available right now unfortunately Moonraker isn't one of them.

I have the box set somewhere so I could just watch them all in order but that takes effort.

I know how you feel OP. I'm a big Bond fan and when I was little I always liked A View To A Kill for some reason. I know a lot of people think it was one of the worst films in the series.

I really enjoyed moonraker as well, honestly I like all of them, even the Brosnan ones, he was Bond when I was a kid. Moores bond was pretty campy, but still fun. I think it was Sean that said this, but either way it was the best description of Moore's Bond "He walked in, shot the bad guy, straightened his tie, and got the girl" rather fitting.

And besides, The Man with the Golden Gun was awesome (but Sean will always be #1 bond, though Craig gives him a run for his money... close second in my opinion)
