Alluding to our friends over on DU, this whole thing smells highly of a DEMOCRATIC ASSASSINATION. The Senate is the coin of the realm of power for these losers. What's it now TWO Democratic senators in losing races that have been REPLACED? We already got LAUTENGERG and now MONDALE? These are guys who couldn't win a nomination on their own but somehow find their names on the ballot for November 5? Can you imagine what would happen if this were Republicans changing horses in mid-stream? Sounds to me like Clinton's Arkansas GOON-SQUAD at work again. The Demo's can't have their plurality in the Senate removed... think of what it would mean for Hillary.

One bright side to all this--both Lautenberg and Mondale are really old. Where are the Dimocrats young stars? Do they have any? Nope. Eventually the Mondale seat and the Lautenberg seat are going to have to be up for a fair election, and I don't think that their tactics right now are going to reflect too well on them--look at what is happening in Missouri!
