“They don’t feel they’re trusted or respected by law enforcement,” Gonzalez said. “An officer is more likely to arrest a student of color rather than ask questions and talk things out.”

Let me guess... they've got some rock hard statistics on how many youths are talked and let go...

Higher percentage of blacks in urban areas over whites who live in mostly suburban and rural. With all the issues related to population density I think you're just going to see more crime in the city than outside of it and as a consequence more blacks arrested than whites.

When I was a kid growing up, the court system was in the home run by my parents and at school with my teachers. They didn't need to use the state court system because they taught me respect and responsibility. We all know that teachers can no longer discipline kids. I wonder where the parents of these kids are and what they are doing different ... MIA, drugs, crime? It sure as hell isn't parenting.

article is lame. are they saying minority students get arrested more often than whites in general or they get arrested more often than whites for the same infraction?

Appears as if the conclusions were made by the author before the study was completed.

So its law enforcements fault that minorities commit more crimes than whites??

I couldn't figure that out either. Are they saying blacks are referred to the court systems more in general...or more than white kids who have committed a similar crime? Like white kids get a verbal warning and are let go by the Police and black kids are taken in? If it's the first point. Well duh. |

No surprise coming out of Seattle. The SPD are constantly under attack from the press in the Seattle area. In a prior job I got to know some SPD and they were damn fine people.

Now in Ruskin, the minorites are whites and blacks hispanics make up the majority. as i'm eating my chicken tenders in the hardies portion of the mobil station the hispanic owner of the mobil chases down and tackles a black yoot who stole something from the store, retreives his property, and throws the dude out. where's the racism? the Hardee's employees and I watched through the windows. all the hardee's employees were hispanic. CSB. |

Of course they are intentionally vague about that, hoping that people will make that assumption and agree with their bogus findings without them having to resort to lying or fudging the numbers to arrive at the desired result that in some way, shape or form they are being oppressed and need compensation. Oh Yeah.. Fuck obama and cuomo too! Have a nice day |

Funny how 65 or 70% of the prison population in the US are non-white. I guess by their logic they are also convicted more than whites.
Yep.... Must have been a wasist judge they pleaded to or a wasist jury of their peers that sent them to the Big House. |
|
Funny, most of my arrests (About 95 percent) are white guys. Sent one white guy and one black guy to prison, the white kid on a warrant, the black kid for cocaine dsitribution. He got 6 to 12 years.
Laws, how do they work? |

El Centro has long been a steadfast defender of the many people who have arrived in Seattle legally or not, seeking work.
El Centro strongly supported the renaming of King County, Washington (which includes Seattle) for Martin Luther King, Jr. In 1986, the King County Council voted, by a narrow majority, to rename King County for Dr. King. Originally, the name “King County” was adopted in the nineteenth century after the 13th vice president of the United States, William Rufus DeVane King |
