I have my high school reunion coming up and my wife thinks I should wear my blues. Is this even appropriate? I only wear them once in a great while, maybe once every 3 years. What says GD?

Service dress is an equivalent uniform for any occasion where business attire would be worn. For example, upon my grandmother's request, I wore service dress to my grandfather's funeral, and wearing them at a wedding would also be appropriate.  I'd also consider whether you're active duty, retired, or separated.

More importantly from a philisophical perspective, are you wearing them because it's appropriate, or because you're trying to show off?

Don't have a problem with that, really, especially if it gets you the hot chicks....

But if you're the only guy at the reunion in uniform, you're going to stand out.

Better to be the cool cat in the nice suit, telling the "There I was, flying Mach 2 over Bagdahd doing the Shock and Awe thing" rather than the guy everyone's looking at thinking, "Showoff."

I assume you're AD, so, It's really up to you.  If you feel comfortable wearing them, go for it.  I've been out for about fifteen years, so my opinion is a little different.  I personally wouldn't wear them to a non-military function, but if your wife is proud of you and likes to see you in them........Do whatever it takes.

Is everyone else wearing a suit? That's all blues are with the tie. With bow tie, it passes when you'd wear a tux.  So go for it...
