I cant F**KING STAND HIM ANY MORE !!!!!!!!!

First off this Montanna meatball has the nerve to call himself the "DUKE"

What crap. How dare he use John Waynes nickname, in a publication. What an ass.

Thats like me signing a song in the Elks lodge and touting myself as "ol blue eyes"

Whats next ? The "King" of gun writer rock 'n roll ?

In any event this Months Handgunner has him waddle his buffalo hide ass up and down Iwo Jima. The first sentance of this waste of paper article is as follows .

(Many people have said to me, "How was Iwo Jima?" To most i just reply, WET!")

well i guess this buffalo hide chewing land whale is to jaded from a rough life of jerking off on his Sharps rifles to not be impressed or even gratefull to walk on such hallowed ground.

I am suprised the returning veterans didnt push his ass right down Suribachi or use him to plug up a cave. He mentions he is fifty+, lame,  out of shape, and has difficulty walking and hour and a half.

Well stop using SPG bullet lube on your toast and instead of eating enough food to fend of starvation for a indian tribe in dead winter; Get up and walk around that state you live in.

You know .....Montanna ......I would think a hearty climate and rugged landscape would lead to vigorus activiy but i guess not.

In any event on Page 52 you will see him wearing his finest dufus hat and a leather jacket so strained from a size "C" cup chest that the pockets are rolling inwards.

Page 53 is the picture that has put me over the top. After years of watching this cock monkey tell me the same stories and recycling the same articles endlessly, he goes and placed the final straw on my back.

The Helmut is tighter than a condom on a watermelon. He looks like a retarted jerry's kid brother of SHULTZ from hogans hero's

And to top it off I have the same pattern shirt. Of which i shall never wear again.

The "Duke" is a "Puke"

By all means bash and lash me. I will never change my feelings towards this GunTard.

IIRC, the 1st article he wrote after being promoted, took cheap shots at the late Bill Jordan. Jordan was a 1st rate lawman and excellent pitolero. From that point on, I'll occasionally read his articles about black powder shooting, only because he does know
it very well.

I seem to recall an issue in which a reader wrote in, complaining of his use of the name "Duke". His response was that it was a nickname given to him a long time ago, and he now uses it as a sort of "nom de plume".

That being said, I'm not overly thrilled with the state of G&A lately. They recycle the same material and hearsay that they have been spouting for years. I don't believe they have any writers on staff anymore who have "seen the elephant" so to speak. They're mostly a bunch of buddies who write about guns.

I still enjoy Handgunner, though. Connor is fun to read, and his oft-photographed redhead daughter is mind-numbingly gorgoeous. Nagata's photos are incredible, and the articles are more geared towards equipment selection and review than most other mags. That is not to say it doesn't have its shortcomings, but overall it's a fun read. The last issue had a piece about a Cylinder and Slide custom-made 1903 chambered in .45ACP. Cool stuff.

When I was in the Air Force, we had a rule that there was no "self nicknaming."

Your squadron mates would decide your nickname - not you.

This should be a universal rule everywhere.  No one should be allowed to pick their own nickname.  Your peers should pick it for you.

EDIT: I think biker clubs follow this rule too.  It's a good rule.

That's the same tool that wrote the article about how much .45 Colt sucks, and listed a bunch of things that either had nothing to do with the cartridge itself or were strengths instead of weaknesses.

The best one was that .45 Colt is dangerous if you double charge it.

i never really pay attention to the man.

the very first thing i read by venturino was that he preferred the fixed iron notches in his revolver because they're tough, and bo-mar adjustables on a 1911 are not and thus should not be carried.

Don't forget that since guns have been made with out-of-spec chambers, that means the cartridge itself sucks.  If I remember right he even said that had nothing to do with the cartridge itself.  But it's in the article anyway.  What a door knob.

I agree. His articles are.. ok. I read them usually if they don't bore me too bad to finish them. John Wayne (Marion Robert Morrison) AKA 'THE REAL DUKE' never fought in any war though many probably think he did. Venturino at least lives the life of a modest man. I never thought Marion Robert Morrison's movies were all that good anyway,w but I am younger and always thought that Clinton Eastwoods movies were far better. (In 1950, during the Korean War, was drafted into the Army, and was aboard a military flight that crashed into the Pacific Ocean north of San Francisco. He escaped serious injury, but had to remain behind to testify at a hearing investigating the cause of the crash. This kept him from being shipped to Korea with the rest of his unit. During his military service, Eastwood became friends with fellow soldiers and future actors Martin Milner and David Janssen.... wikpedia *... as far as "Movie-stars" go Clint eclipsed him long ago.

My issue with him calling himself "Duke" isn't that it was John Wayne's nickname. It is that only douchebags give themselves nicknames. I don't believe for a second that within the last few years, he decided to adopt his childhood nickname as a pen name.

Basically that is what someone who has no idea about dimensions is going to say when they buy a .45 Colt and it shoots like shit.  This also a reason a lot of people who buy .22 Hornet's and find they shoot like shit.   By giving his article that title he gets people to read it and learn about how dimensions amongst .45 Colt mfg differ (some quite a bit).

I never knew about this until I read a Mike V article some 15 years ago on the .45 LC, he mentioned that Hank Williams Jr. complained to Ruger about dimensions being off.  Bill Ruger went down and measured the pistols himself, he found that Hank was spot on.   I learned that if your going to buy a .45 LC it is good thing to check dimensions.  Mike has always pushed the checking of dimensions and how it is a must for those who like to shoot lead bullets accurately.
