Did anyone else notice that their ammunition prices just jumped bigtime in the last few days? I had a case of 45 ACP on my wishlist and the price has jumped more than $75! Their Blackhills also went up about $2 a box.

Nearly everything & everyone will raise their prices in January. It is just the way it is.

Yep. It was CCI Blazer Brass. My C&R price was around $175 - now it is $250!

Its crazy. I ordered a case of 40 S&W for $165 about 3 months ago and now it is $205.

I am hoping it is a mess up. Some of the dealer prices are higher than the retail.

cajunboy: I would go out and buy up some of that ammo at the retailers.  I bet those retailers haven't bought any ammo for awhile, and are they going to be shocked when they place a new order to replace the ammo they sold.  Midway USA sells a lot of stuff, and they probably order their supplies once or twice per month and they get hit with price increases right away.

Yes, I was just thinking about that.

Ammo prices are going up 10% this year - this was in a note from Zanders.

I think they went up 4% to 5% last year.

Ammo- buy it cheaper than it will be in the future
And stack it deep.

Just doesn't have the ring the original did.

Aimsurplus has some South African on their site and have been posting that it will go up first of the year. Don't recall the %- around 10% IIRC. I'm sure somewhere down the road I'll regret not buying more than I did.

From their site...
Due to increased shipping costs... As of 01/01/2006 South African .308 Ammunition will be increased to $154.00 for a 980rd can. These next few days will be your last oppurtunity to purchase this Super High Quality .308 Ammunition at the low low price of $147.00 per 980rd can.

got a flyer from Wideners, they're expecting Barnaul ammo in "soon" but said also there'll be a price increase.

Buy it cheap and stack it deep are words to live by!

They all have seen increases in shipping AND material prices. Plus, UPS charges 5% more starting today, too.

I guess I will be buying more locally.

I guess that wal-mart buy out on ammo day paid off after all.

Why are ammo prices going up besides shipping?

Utilities have gone up, therefore more cost of that goes into each round of ammo made.

Fuel has gone up, that is where UPS fits in but UPS does not cover the initial ammo delivery from the manufacturer to the warehouse where UPS generally winds up delivering it from.

Someone mentioned metal costs went up last year, I suspect they are still up and any stockpiles that manufacturers might have had for last year are used up and they are either preparing to buy more expensive metal or they already are buying more expensive metal.

I stacked last year like crazy and am quite glad I did. I bought 10x what I normally do and don't regret it in the least.

I had to call Midway for a return today and I asked about the ammo. They said distributors pirces have  increased as of 1/1/06.
