By the accounts of Mr. Rather and other officials, they began to understand that their report was falling apart last Thursday, when Mr. Burkett confessed to CBS that he had lied about where he got the four memorandums. While he had initially said he got them from another former guardsman, people at CBS said, he then told them that the documents came through a convoluted process that started with a phone call from a stranger and ended with the handoff of an envelope at the Houston Livestock Show, that city's version of Mardi Gras.

Huh? What?

Doesn't that sound like the B.S. Story that you would make up if you prepared these things yourself?

Maybe angels sent him to find some golden plates out in the woods that were written in a cryptic (Egyptian) language and he had to decipher them with his magic seer stone (supplied).... And he typed the translation into MS Word...

I hope they throw the book at Burkett. It's only a max of 10 years. 5 state, 5 federal, but 10 years would give him some time to get his butthole stretched out a little

There is a local Dallas talk radio host who has had dealings with Burkett for years. He (Butkett) has a beef with Bush and one that even goes back farther than Bush's governership with the Texas National Guard. A well known tinfoilhatter and teller of tall tales and CBS should have known better.

Essentially, he was taking a dig at anothers faith. Forging documents is wrong and so is making fun of another's most cherished possession, their faith in God.

Heh.

Lay off of Mormons. OK, Joe Smith found gold discs. And Jesus turned water into wine. Nobody's beliefs are any more or less credible than anyone else's. Including the Muslims. It's all based on suspension of our own perception of reality at some point. The only difference is in the actions of the believers. Mormons have always struck me as great people, giving and moral. If there's a heaven, good Mormons are in.
