A man was arrested Wednesday on several charges after police said they found a loaded handgun in his vehicle and a grenade launcher in his apartment.
Police said a source told investigators that James Martin Bradley, of Rockville, was in possession of several firearms and explosives.
Through surveillance, investigators said they saw Bradley loading a large, heavy bag into his vehicle. Officers stopped Bradley a short distance from his apartment and said they found a loaded .38-caliber handgun under the front seat of his car and photographs of his ex-wife and her current husband on the front seat.
Bradley allegedly told the officers that he was en route to Frederick to regain custody of his son from his ex-wife.
Police said upon searching his apartment, they found numerous firearms, a grenade launcher, black powder, fuse cord, explosive handbooks, survival gear and a lot of ammunition. Investigators said the firearms were loaded, unsecured and within reach of Bradley's 13-year-old son.
Bradley was charged with possession of a regulated firearm with a felony conviction, access by a minor to a firearm, transporting a handgun in a vehicle, possession of a regulated firearm having knowledge it was stolen, and three counts of illegal possession of a regulated firearm.
He was released on $100,000 bond.
