I know it's been done before, but I can't find any threads on it. I'm curious, as I believe most married men don't give their wife the code to their safe. I know a lot do, but I feel like the majority do not.

She does not but only because she doesn't care to know it. She'd forget it anyway. I would give it to her if she wanted to know.
We both do so we both have access to the firearms. If I'm hurt last thing I want it to have to wait for here to be told the code...
She couldn't care less.
She was shocked that I didn't want her to just give my guns to the police after my death. |
She knows because in the event she needs something out of it (jewelry, paperwork, ect) she can grab it without needing me.
Told mine the combo but she did not care enough to remember it. She has keys to lock box for her gun.
My 16 year old son is the only other person besides me that can get into my safes besides me.

In which case, I'd opt to get her a better safe for such things with a higher fire rating, smaller, and easier to hide. As far as her needing a firearm, I figure at least one will be out of the safe if I'm home. |
She hasn't committed it to memory, but she knows where to find it.
Yes she does. She has guns and other stuff in it and does not have to bother me if she needs them.
My security container, due to SWMBO's indifference, is an outstanding place to store gifts for Christmas, birthday, anniversary, etc.
Of course, and she can get into it as quick as I can. Wouldn't have it any other way.
I have four safes.
My wife doesn't know any of the safes combos. never asked. I could be hiding dead hookers in there and she'd have no idea.
My wife knows that if she's ever asked by anyone, that she does not know the code and she does not consent to any searches.

If I die an untimely death, that steel box will likely stay locked for a long time. It might eventually become an ARFCOM safe thread worth following. |

Of course we both know it. We both have a plethora of guns in there.
I have a key and she has no idea. I think my son does though. |
The clues to my safe combination are buried near several landmarks around the country. You must stand in the northwest corner of my livingroom on the Vernal equinox to begin the quest.
She has not taken the effort to memorize the combination, so no access.
Damn, I wish I added whether or not she keeps anything in your safe....
yep we share everything, If I cant trust her we don't need to be married.

If she wanted to know it, I'd give it to her. She has specifically asked for me to not tell it to her. She's on both of the Trusts, so it's not like she can't touch stuff, and she knows how much cash, precious metals, and how much the guns are worth on the used market, so if something happens to me she can move it. Although, she knows to go to the lawyer to coordinate selling everything.
All of this reminds me, I need to get another RSC for the non-gun stuff. |
She knows. Its the same as the security system. I keep spare cash in there for her so she actually uses it sometimes. She doesnt shoot.
I've told her what the combo is several times. She does not have the code to the safe.

Along with a strongbox containing our passports and documents with passwords to websites, financial info and other things we may need. We can both get in to the safe pretty quickly. I can look at her CZs, and she can look at my XDs. |

Wife knows my combo. What is the point of wife if you can't trust her?

I have told her, but she does not care or seem to want to know. I gave the combination to my son, so when I go, he can have a field day. |
yes she does, she has "stuff" in there, and my son, who is out of state has it, since he is administrator of the will.

Urban dictionary FTMFW Helping old dudes with pop culture since 1998 She only has the night stand unit combo. She has no need to access the other one. |
Yes, but I'd be surprised if she actually tried to get in it.
Not married, but when I was my wife couldn't open my safe. If I ever get married again it'll probably stay that way. She can have her own safe if she's into guns.
I don't have a safe, I do have a gorgeous oak gun cabinet that my grandpa built for me though. She knows where the keys are, right in the lock.

This. No matter how many times I stress the importance of her knowing it. I think I'm going to try locking her vibrator in the safe when I go TDY.... She'd be fucking certain to learn the combo then... View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

She'd be fucking certain to learn the combo then... Pretty much. Maybe I'll try that too. I've told her the combo, but she chooses not to remember because it isn't important to her. I also told her where the combo is written down. I doubt she remembers. For the lock box next to the bed I just gave her the back up key. |
But it's not a sure thing she could open it.
Especially on the first try. |
Yes.
There is shit in there that could save her life. Why wouldn't I want her to save her life??? |
