Sleep in the same bed as your spouse?

I cannot, I am such a light sleeper every time she moves it wakes me up.

I sleep on the couch.

Her boyfriend likes it better that way.

So you have a roommate rather than a wife then?

Yep. Get a temperpedic and be done with that.  Can't feel her jumping on her side.

Slept in a guest bedroom for about 3 years because we went to bed at different times and she always got real bitchy about me coming in.  Finally I said enough's enough and moved back in.

If I couldn't share the bed with my wife I'd get a new bed or a new wife depending on the circumstances

I have never understood couples who don't.

Some of their reasons seem a bit contrived.

Fix the fuckin' problem, and sleep together ........... it really makes things better.

This.

Best money I have ever spent on a bed.

The only time I don't is if I'm sick. For whatever reason I'm more comfortable on the couch without being touched when I'm sick.

We tried... she has to pee, Im up. She takes the covers, Im up. She rolls over, Im up....

I have been this way since I was a baby according to my parents. Been to many sleep doctors just nothing works.

She also works midnights, so it isn't a huge strain on the relationship. I was just curious to others situation.

Bonus question.........
We were discussing the other day, do most people sleep in birthday suits or jammers?

My grandmother apparently snored something fierce, so after many years of suffering my grandfather finally said "from this day forth I will sleeping upstairs." He said it was the best decision he ever made, one that he should have made years before.

I've been sleeping on the floor for about 6 months now.  Our then 2 1/2 year old will not sleep through the night unless someone is in his room with him, and my wife was pregnant with our now second child.  So, now she's up every 2-4 hours feeding the baby, so I'm still on the floor in the boys room.
Right now I don't mind it so much....beds are soft though....

Lived with a woman for 4 years and had separate bedrooms. We worked different shifts plus I snore, toss and turn, steal covers, sleep talk, sleep walk and who knows what else. I would wake her up and she would wake me up to tell me I woke her up and finally we both had enough and just moved to separate bedrooms.

I'm single now and share a bed with the dog, he doesn't care.

Almost always.
In fact, the bed feels wierd without her, so when she goes to a SPED conference, I'll spend those nights on the couch.

Wow...lots of insecurities in this thread.

I get up around 4:00 AM each morning. My wife is more of an 8 or 9 AM person.

I got to bed about 10 PM, she doesn't go to bed until midnight.

When she comes to bed, it wakes me up and I can't go back to sleep.

I have to get up about 4 AM and I've been awake since midnight.

...works for a couple of days before a hard crash and someone possibly gets hurt.

Save the he-man BS...you do what you have to do.

Braced for anyone who says, "She oughta be up at 3 am making you pancakes..."

My girlfriend of 13 yrs do not sleep in the same bed.  We have lived together the last 6 and I bought a new mattress that she can't stand b/c it hurts her back.  She has back issues.  Got to admit, it isn't a bad situation.  We get together to get it on and go back to our rooms.  She would also like to fall asleep with the tv on and I cannot.  I honestly believe people are not meant to sleep together.  Often you sleep differently, get up at different times and one prefers hot the other cold, etc, etc.

The other plus is I watch what I want and there is no argument about it.  I turn it off when I am ready.  I had said I would buy another mattress but it has been working out so great, don't tell her but I don't plan on buying one soon.

Interesting thread. We want to but I also am a light sleeper and she works shift work.

Well did work shift work. The past couple weeks have been great for sleeping together.

I do have a terrible sleep issue. Either straight up insomnia or I fall asleep then wake up. If I wake up due to certain noises I become enraged.

It's aweful.

We do, and I can't imagine not doing so, as she is just so "nice."  I had slept alone for a long time prior to marrying her, so it definitely took a while to get used to it, especially considering she's a cuddler.  Now it's GREAT having her boobs pushed up against my back all night.
