"Middle aged white man wearing camo"
Probably Tom Diaz with a .50 to get people to pay attention too him.

I just hope it's AWB compliant, whatever it is.

Please let it be a deer rifle.

Link Posted: 3/22/2006 10:49:24 AM EDT

God I hope it's someone just exercising the right to open carry!!!
Think about it, walking down the street w/ a rifle is a nation-wide newsworthy crime?

How far have we fallen!!!!

There are no reports of shots being fired, let alone any injuries, and police said they have not confirmed the reports that a bearded man wearing camouflage was seen with the gun.

Oh shit...he's got a beard.

Pittsburgh?

Link Posted: 3/22/2006 11:06:25 AM EDT
So they say somebody thought they saw a guy with what they think was a rifle in a building.

So they shut down parts of Pittsburgh.

Talk about overreaction. $5 on umbrella.
Link Posted: 3/22/2006 11:07:10 AM EDT
All clear given.
Link Posted: 3/22/2006 11:08:32 AM EDT
Bearded?
Camo?

If that rifle is a 10/22 it sounds like 87% of the posters on frugalsquirrels.

Latest news I'm seeing here in Pittsburgh is its a guy with a pellet gun shooting Pigions or rats with wings. We need to ban those dangerous pellet guns, you can shoot your eye out with one of those.
Link Posted: 3/22/2006 11:11:04 AM EDT
Yeah, how the FUCK do they know it isn't a .22LR? And just what defines "high powered"?

High powered rifle: ANY centerfire rifle.

Definition is the NRAs. Not mine.
Link Posted: 3/22/2006 11:14:27 AM EDT
What a crock of shit. No shots fired, no injuries, no suspects, no arrests, just some dumbasses who thought they saw a bearded man with a rifle. Get back to work!

two hours of lockdown in downtown the bomb squad god knows how much overtime --all for a sheeple that saw a guy go into a building with "something that looked like a rifle"

high powered rifle..

This is kind of like the story that came out in the Bay Area today. The police were dispatched to Alameda (city) in response to a report of gun shots. They find 15 expended 7.62x39 casings. The media declared that it was an AK47 assault rifle, even though no description of the gun has been brought forward, and there are no witnesses.

Some chick (libtard and ugly, so don't ask for pics) brought up the story in class today and I questioned if it was an AK. She said it certainly IS an AK because they found "AK bullets" at the scene. I asked if they found the ugn or if there was any other evidence suggesting that it was an AK, and she told me that "only one gun fires AK bullets and that is an AK." I educated her on reality, and all she could say was "well it's not like I interviewed the shooter to find out what gun it really is, but it's an AK."

theres a part of the footage where one of the swat guys jogs non-chalantly out of a building over to a vehicle-- kinda stealths past the guys on cells/walkietalkies politely excuses himself opens a vehicle door looks around grabs something and heads back into the building --as he comes around the end of the vehicle you can see that he is now carrying an AMMO can ! priceless.

Probably some pissed off old man with a 10/22 shooting piegons on the roof cause they're shitting on his car.

Oh my god an evil assault pellet rifle! Think of the children! You can take out a jet plane with one of those! (If you tossed the rifle in to a turbine) They thought a pellet rifle was a .50 cal.

wow, and PA tends to pretty gun friendly. What a huge overreaction.

However, if I saw a guy with a scoped "rifle" on the roof of a downtown building, I might get a little nervous too.

Gun friendly or not, everywhere has anti-gun people or gun-retards who don't know anything but what Hollywood has taught them.

I imagine the response was appropiate, given the report from whomever called was a "scoped, high-power rifle" being carried by some bad dude in camo (embellishment, much?).

The LEOs only know as much as they're told, and they get a lot of bad info.

Police cordoned off downtown streets and SWAT teams searched buildings Wednesday for a possible sniper with a rifle, but it turned out be a man with a pellet gun that he used to shoot pigeons.

Police Chief Dom Costa didn't immediately say if charges would be filed.

A caller to 911 reported reported seeing a man dressed partly in camouflage and carrying what appeared to be a rifle equipped with a telescopic or laser gunsight, police at the scene said.

Mayor Bob O'Connor, wearing a bulletproof vest, called the man a "presumed sniper."

However, after focusing on a building in the city's theater district, police said they had located the man's supervisor, who said the man sometimes takes his pellet gun to work to shoot pigeons. Police did not release the man's name or say what his job is.

Nah, they use all those terms interchangably.

Depending on the situation, a semiauto AR can be:

A high powered sniper rifle

A spray from the hip assault rifle

A bullet hose

etc

Hell, to those morons a 10/22 would fit all those definitions.

The Browns fan would have put the gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger.

...or jumped off the building.

Pa. IS a gun friendly state.
The whole thing went down about 2
miles from where I work. Initial reports were something
of the order that "there are reports of a man wearing cammies
shooting up downtown with an assault rifle". Remember, media is
media, even in gun friendly states. As more information trickled out,
it was learned that the man was potting at pigeons with a pellet gun,
as noted.

The local SWAT did their job, and kudos to Mayor Bob for going to
the scene. Hysterical civilians with no knowledge of firearms makes
for the top of the news every time.
